Heathen - To Release Next Album In 2025

After nearly four years since the release of their latest album Empire Of The Blind, the members of Heathen have confirmed via comments on Facebook that after their spring and summer 2024 tours, they will enter the studio to begin recording their next album for a tentative mid-2025 release.

Guitarist Kragen Lum commented: "The new album is written already and has a title. Artwork is already in progress. Demos of 8 songs have been sent to everyone in the band. I have 4 more songs to finish demoing for the album. We're hoping to have the new album out mid 2025. We should have another surprise release this year though. I already have about half of the album after that written as well. Our plan was to have more frequent releases but COVID delayed us by a couple of years. We're doing our best to get back on track with a regular album release schedule."

Frontman David White chimed in, saying: "We will be recording the new record this year. We have tour plans to work around! But it's coming soon."

And I will be checking it out. Didn't Lee Altus used to be a songwriter in Heathen, now it seems it's just Kragen?

It looks like it. Lee hasn't really written lyrics to a Heathen song since Victims Of Deception.

Lee wrote music on The Evolution of Chaos to a few songs and all of those songs are simply great and they totally sound like Heathen. I don't know what happened at Empire of the Blind because I don't have the album and can't find the booklet online to see songwriting credits, so I'm just guessing that Lee didn't contribute so much Maybe somebody can correct this if they have info about it. So I'm little bit concerned with the upcoming album even if I'm automatically going to listen to it.

Kragen Lum wrote the entire Empire of the Blind; check out my review for more details. It looks like he has done the same with the upcoming one, which means it will not be good.
