I think it's a blatant overreaction over knowing or teaching or whateverthefuck is Blood and Soil, Blood un Boden, Blood and Booby. I agree with above folks that you don't get to teach about these words rather than history which is paramount. There are lot of banned hindu nationalist words used in Hinduism, but you will get to encounter about its history and legacy, in the first place. Even we have a hindu symbol akin to swastika used during deities. It's a symbol of peace and prosperity.

I do understand that some people did not know that. But I cannot understand how one can still defend their own ignorance once finding out what the term means. If you google "blood soil" in pair together, majority of most relevant results show its indisputable Nazi connotation. This clearly shows that this is not some "accidental" relation between words. It was used very frequently for last 80+ years mostly in this context. And do not even start with swastikas.

Also I do not care if we should "go back to the sad news in the original post". They made it an issue when posting these words and they certainly knew what they were alluding at.

I'd say a willingness to learn should always be encouraged, whether in a serious conversation or not.

Yes, you're right. Of course, it should be encouraged when people want to learn something. But I was totally serious when I said that in the age of the internet, ignorance shouldn't be a universal excuse for doubting the valid statements of others.
Boxcar could have also spent two minutes to find out for himself why Shmelevod was absolutely right. Now that would have been "learning". Instead, he did what many people do when accusations are made against a band for flirting with Nazi ideology: the accusations are questioned, or the incident is downplayed. This supports exactly those people who usually come forward when it comes to deemphasizing NS accusations. Like, for example, Karlabos, who didn't care at all when a member of Marduk gave a Nazi salute on stage. Or ALL CAPS GUY, who just a few months ago was talking about what a great guy Adolf Hitler was and what a wonderful book he wrote.

For many people, music may be a retreat to escape reality and forget the problems of everyday life – and that's okay. But the metal scene is also a mirror of our society. And that’s why I have absolutely no understanding for people who, in any way - be it directly or indirectly - defend Nazi sympathizers and act out of their own ignorance instead of informing themselves first.
What if Radu hadn’t responded? Then we’d have a thread where two out of three people signal that they have no problem with bands throwing around Nazi jargon. Do we really want Metal Storm to be seen like this by active users and random visitors to the site? I hope not.

Yes, I'm aware that my expectations in this regard are high, probably too high. And I also know that it has a lot to do with my own cultural background, which makes me very sensitive to this topic. But this issue is many times more important to me than the sentiments of individual members of this community or any other real life community.

Then he jokingly explained why he didn't know in response to your question. Was that so bad?

Jokingly? Where's the joke??

We're not all from Germany bro.

This was his original post, and that’s exactly what I responded to. I don’t think I’m obligated to respond to posts that have been edited afterwards, am I? In this case, it would also be impossible because there was an additional post that he completely deleted in a knee-jerk reaction, and probably no one else read it besides me.

Either way, thank you for your thoughtful comment.

Brutal Water
We've talked about WW2 extensively at school, took field trips to Mauthausen, the Military History Museum and other WW2-related museums and whatnot. I also had plenty of run-ins with Nazi skinheads in my life (lived in Wiener Neustadt for a few years) and thanks to my great-grandfather being a conscious objector, my family has been gifted all sorts of local history books about the Nazi era over the years, some of which I have inherited and read/flipped through.

Never knew about the blood and soil thing. If I ever saw that term before, it didn't stick due to me not realizing the true meaning behind it.
