ProgPower Scandinavia - Mekong Delta Replaces Zero Hour

Unfortunately ZERO HOUR had to cancel their ProgPower Scandinavia appearance due to bassist Troy Tipton having to undergo surgery end of October. We are very saddened to hear this, and we wish Troy a speedy recovery, and hope to see them at ProgPower Scandinavia next year. Please find below the statement from Jasun Tipton in Zero Hour:

. . . .

This is very tough for me to write as we deeply regret to say Zero Hour has to cancel the upcoming live performance at ProgPower Scandinavia. My brother Troy has been struggling with Tendonitis for many years and in the last year the pain in his Ulnar nerve and tendons have pushed him to his limits. Troy has already run up a large amount of medical bills this year. Having met the deductible requirements of his health insurance policy, Troy needs to have the surgery done (followed by 6 weeks of rehabilitation) before the year is up. Unfortunately this created a scheduling conflict with ProgPower Scandinavia.

I want to thank Claus of Intromental/ProgPower Scandinavia for being nothing but supportive towards our decision. Claus is a class-act and has done an amazing job with his promotions work (Intromental Promotions) for Zero Hour over the years. This was going to be our first time playing in Denmark and we were so excited to come play ProgPower Scandinavia. Claus has put together an awesome lineup as all the bands are very talented. We hope ProgPower Scandinavia is a great success because it's a great event run by great people.

We want to apologize to everyone who was looking forward to seeing Zero Hour at ProgPower Scandinavia. This is the first time we've canceled an event and never wanted to be known as that type of band. It's very hard to see my brother in the condition he's in and this is the best thing for Troy and the band in the long run. ProgPower Europe will be our last event of 2008 and we'll do our best to let you know the status of Troy and the band in 2009.

. . . .

With regards to ProgPower Scandinavia, we are of course very disappointed by the fact that we once again have to find a replacement band, as this year seem to be the year of several cancellations. However, we decided to find a band similar to Zero Hour in musical expression, so we chose German technical prog-thrashers MEKONG DELTA to be a suitable and very welcomed replacement band. MEKONG DELTA is a band that we actually had in mind for the original line-up of PP Scandinavia 2008, but with Zero Hour already on the bill, we did not want two bands so close in sound. The unfortunate situation with Zero Hour gives us a good reason for picking up MEKONG DELTA, and we are very proud of having them perform at our festival. If you do not know who MEKONG DELTA are, we urge you to check out their latest album "Lurking Fear" from 2007 or some of their classic albums like "Dances Of Death and Other Walking Shadows" 1990 and "The Principle of Doubt" 1989. MEKONG DELTA is really one of the original progressive metal bands in Europe, and with their hard thrash metal roots, they should make ProgPower Scandinavia into a truly original event.

Now, with only 6 weeks left, let us all hope for no more cancellations Here is the final line-up of ProgPower Scandinavia 2008:

I recently heard Zero Hour for the first time (their song Dark Deceiver). I've heard of Mekong Delta (and I might've heard a song by them, too). The festival seems great.
