15th Anniversary celebration
In October, the Gathering will exist for 15 years! The band has prepared many things to celebrate this anniversary with their public!
First the band will do a Dutch tour in October.
During this tour two special jubilee shows will be held on October 15th and October 16th at Dutch venues Mezz Concert & Dance in Breda and Groene Engel in Oss. With several songs the band will be supported on stage by enormous video projections of clips made by national and international multimedia artists. A promising Dutch VJ will mix these clips with his own video art and live images of the band on stage. Dutch talented people can still join the project. At the gig in Oss, the winning videoclip will be announced and as a gift the band will release the best video clips on a future live DVD, that should be released next year.
2nd leg of the Sleepy Buildings tour
Then, the Gathering will hit European roads again for the 2nd leg of the Sleepy Buildings tour in November. In the forthcoming shows the band will of course bring all highlights from their 15 year career completed with some totally new songs that will appear on the forthcoming new studio album planned for release in 2005. So if you want to catch the Gathering on tour be sure to get your tickets in time! There is no concert planned until September 2005! The band will take a long break from touring. They will work on the new album whose release is planned for 2005. And of course, Anneke will give birth to her baby!!
Next to the tour activities, the Gathering has prepared two special actions!!
In the Netherlands, everybody who buys the albums Souvenirs or Sleepy Buildings during September at some selected stores will receive a special 'tour T-shirt'. And [s]he makes chance to win 2 free concert tickets [which has a value of ?30] and 2 backstage passes including meet & greet with the Gathering! The second action is the Gathering supporting War Child Netherlands
During the Dutch tourdates in October a photo exhibition will be held from photographer Peter Blok [winner of World Press Photo Award 1989 and 15 time winner of a "Silver Camera" between 1988 and 2002]. Peter Blok has photographed the band for several years and this resulted in a collection of his most beautiful and sensational the Gathering photos on and off stage. In December the enlarged the Gathering photo's of the exhibition will be auctioned on eBay under the worldwide the Gathering fan base!. Each 1 piece limited edition enlarged photo in a 20 x 28 inch [50 x 70 cm] frame, is supplied with authentic autographs of band and photographer. All proceeds from the auction will be granted to War Child Netherlands [www.warchild.nl]
War Child Netherlands is an independent humanitarian non-governmental organisation assisting children, irrespective of their religious, ethnic, or social background. War Child Netherlands strives for the healthy mental development of children who have lived through war, so that they can contribute to a peaceful future. War Child specialises in providing psychosocial assistance to children in former war zones, using creative methods. Through musical, creative and sports activities children can express their emotions. This helps them to deal with their war experiences and also stimulates personal development and respect for one another. Children learn to play again and can escape the difficulties of their daily lives for a while. Since War Child's foundation employees, artists, companies, individuals and children have been working continuously and passionately for a new future for children living in former war zones. Today, War Child Netherlands employs 300 field staff. With support from the Head Office in Amsterdam, they work with around 15,000 children per week in 11 countries affected by armed conflict.
