i voted for dissection
mainly because their music has more depth to it, and they have killer riffs, with some great vocals
but i do like bathory because theyre one of the very first for black metal
it was really hard to decide because both bands were original

No doubth Bathory no metter what old or new, i love this band more how Dissection, because almoust ewery Bathory album are like viking journey, ewery lyric like viking saga music are so awsome, epic and atmosferic, thay I cant glorofy Bathory, but I like old Dissection too

Storm of Light's Bane is a f*cikng masterpiece... is PERFECT.

Too hard to decide this one. I love both bands, and it's only fair to say that they're equal in my esteem and tastes.

Dissection of course! During their Melodic Black days they created some of the best music ever made. Immortal epic tracks that'll stick for a long time with me. Old Bathory was good but not that good! Overall I'd get a lot more tired of Bathory sooner than Dissection.

I voted for Bathory. For some reason I don't like Dissection as much as everyone else seems to, but I still like them. I actually can't think of a reason for liking Bathory more other than personal preference. I guess they're catchier...

Call me crazy, but I find nothing special whatsoever about Dissection, they bore me. Bathory's discography in general is solid, so my vote goes to Bathory.

I voted for Dissection with the eyes closed, IN MY OPINION Dissection owns Bathory, they have the EXACT sound I've looked for years, melodic, haunting, and so. they have those nocturnal anthems that I still listen every day, they are my fav band in melodic extreme. FOR ME bathory never reached Dissection's level, I even prefer reinkaos rather any bathory album.

I voted for Bathory - my fav band in the black metal genre.

It's not very serious. To make a long story short... let's say that I feel very uncomfortable when stuff (like my posts) aren't in a special order. If there's a newspaper on a table I must place it in a corner along the sides of the table, to make some sort of pattern. And when I post here, I like to make links to bands, album names in this style and song names in this one.

It's not like I go crazy if I don't do this. I just feel... well, it doesn't feel good. And I can't sleep if my room isn't decent.

The most crazy thing I ever heard... I respect you if you don't like them... But to say that the music is bad.... Can get it... The album is just unique.

I vote for Bathory, the awesome atmosphere, the in-your-face lyrics, the raw sound, agression etc. Though I have to admit I might be a little biased, as Bathory was one of my first metal bands and is still among my favorites.

Dissection's music however, certainly has its moments, but sounds somewhat too mishmashy, and starts to tire me after awhile. It's also a bit too melodic and catchy to my liking.

dissection never really moved me that much...

on the other hand, i find i still get a rush from those first couple Bathory records, particularly "the Return."

this was pretty much a no-brainer for me.

I chose Dissection because I just enjoy their sound more. In respect to the genre, I probably have more respect for Bathory, but Im not surprised that Bathory is winning this one though.

I was amazed when I got those first few Bathory albums because you realise that nothing else sounds as close to what we call black metal today than those albums did back in the mid 80s, although it did take me a while to get into them. As someone else said, The Return... really was the first BM album. My vote goes to Bathory! I just listened to Storm Of The Lights Bane before I went out this morning, and it is very good... but just a little too melodic for me to really love it and I don't think any of the other tracks come close to Night's Blood.

This thread made me think of a topic in the general metal forum about artists getting more praise after they've died... and as we all know (or should know) both Jon and Quorthon have gone the journey. I don't think it made any difference to Quorthon's fame though, I mean, he couldn't get any more praise... and he damn well earned it while he was here!
