Wow.. it's a shame for people who were planning to go :/

Wow!! Like Serbia didn't have enough problems with organising festivals and metal events in the country.. I actually feel sorry for them all because of all the problems they have getting metal events, and because this festival had such an amazing line-up.

On the one hand, it's so frustrating to see regular people being the victim once again of these so-called "political situations". On the other hand, the reason for cancellation is major bullshit because the Legacy Festival, which took place only a few days ago in Belgrade, only 50km west of Smederevo, went just fine...

Whatever, I guess this is a huge disappointment whatsoever.

Its Kosovo think , in Serbia are a lot of hooligans, and such think can be ''dangerous'' even USA basketball players from Fenerbachče didnt go to game against Partizan, IMO safty are main reason

Im pissed! I got a plane ticket to come all the way from Canada and now it's fucking cancelled....they assured me it wouldn't be...now Im stuck with a ticket I no longer need for 2000 CAN dollars! I put alot of time efffort planning and money for the things Id need...as well as a passport. Anyways...I couldn't be more pissed! Fuck you Terra Nostra Productions! Most of us wouldve paid at the fucking door!

MAIN REASON FOR CANCELLATION IS POOR TICKET SALE!

Dear all,


We're very sorry to inform you that in the light of the latest situation developments, we're forced to cancel the Castle Festival.

This is the hardest decision we've ever made, but unfortunately this is also the only real option. Ticket sales are simply terrible (our lineup sold 350 tickets in total), and all other projects in Serbia are going down.

Political situation and local incidents which happened 3 months ago led to a few thousand e-mails of potential fans from abroad and another huge wave of mistrust.

In addition we will still make a Judas Priest + Cavalera Conspiracy show in Belgrade, Tasmajdan Stadium on July 1st 2008.

We will start refundin money to all those who bought tickets from June 20th 2008. Everyone will have the choice to get their money back or to convert existing Castle festival ticket to Judas Priest + Cavalera Conspiracy ticket.

And, about political situation, it wasn't dangerous for: Chris Rea, Kamelot, Testament, Pain of Salvation, Threshold, Rage, Destruction, Amorphis, Obituary, Vader, Septic Flesh, Pro-Pain, Belphegor, Unleashed, Dark Funeral, The Foreshadowing, Nick Cave... and also participants od Eurovision Song Contest, so they all came to Serbia and left safe and sound!

But I think that poor ticket sale had a thing with political situation because not many fans from outside Serbia, and Bosna, Macedonia planed to come to thefestival...
+ poor politicak situation = poor population = a lot of people who wanted to go didn't have the money...

Im so sad, it was probably my only chance to see some bands in Serbia...

It might not be so much a political situation - but just that the cheap flights that we have around Europe just don't go to Serbia.. or not from here anyway.
Serbia is a long long way away from Germany and the U.K. and such countries - and so just isn't the easiest to get to at all.

the flight costs 850$ the festival 75 euro, but for such great bands it's worth it (the flight, the festival worth the money even if only one band preformed), too bad it got cancelled, I wanted to go. oh well, next year Wacken and Tuska

It would have been 68 euro round-trip for me with Germanwings. :
I'm glad this was supposed to start in the middle of the week, else I would've probably booked the flight.

Well, the reason for cancellation is NOT political situaltion, that is totally absurd. Other concerts and festivals are not cancelled (EXIT for example, or recent Belgrade Metal 2 day festival). The reason for cancellation is bad, just bad organization, inept, incompetent organizer that wanted too much with 5 day festival, and they can't even make decent organization for a single concerts as they shown in the past. Fucking TerraNostra.
