Seeing both bands live recently brought up a lot of comparisons in my mind. Both of these bands have been commended for playing old school style thrash metal, both bands formed in 2004, and both bands have released their debut albums within the past year. Which one is better? It was a hard decision for me, while I found Warbringer put on a slightly better show live, Evile has much better song writing in my opinion, I found "Enter The Grave" just one notch above "War Without End", but it could also be because Evile had the privilege of having their debut produced by Flemming Rasmussen. So my vote goes to Evile.

I voted for Warbringer, and the decision was pretty easy. Evile is cool for a little bit, but they become a little monotonous and predictable. I mean, I get a little tired of Warbringer near the end of the CD, but not as bad as Evile. I love their solos especially, but they're sooooooo good live. The problem with new thrash is that it's influenced by old thrash, while old thrash was influenced by punk, NWOBHM, heavy metal, etc., but I still like both bands. Oh, but HMP is still the best new thrash band I've heard I'm really fucked up atm so my post sounds a little weird.

I think that Evile is better than warbringer. they are a little bit heavier i believe and i like the riffs that they come up with.

Gotta go with Warb. Both bands use a lot of shit riffs and the vocals are crap, but less so with Warbringer (so far). Evile may have the upper hand in the solo department but all I can remember from their material is a few choruses and a bunch of annoying riffs while Warb have some decent whole songs in Dread Command and Combat Shock. It's a shame there's so fucking many of these unoriginal thrash bands sprouting up atm, I could probably name more than 20 within a few seconds, but the good ones like Exmortus and Vektor are being left in the dark. I'm sure the latter will make some waves with their next album or two... provided they don't break up like Deadfall... they totally blasted before crashing down with the mindless Slayerish Vicious Vendetta, kicking over the bucket soon thereafter.

I'll not vote on this one... They're a great new breed of thrash metal, both of their albuns are really good, love them both! Perhaps when their 2nd albuns are out I'll get to vote...

Based on the two albums, I'd go with Evile, but I think not voting right now is good idea because they are actually very close. So... waiting for next albums, and this poll could rather be To the Grave vs War Without End...

Even if War Without End was actually really good, I'm gonna go with the generally superior Evile. Even if Warbringer tops Evile at their best moments, Evile are generally more consistently enjoyable.

Evile, not only are they a better band with better songs, but they look like a fun bunch of lads you could get along with and have a laugh. Warbringer look like they barely ever crack a smile.

My cousin, to whom I owe my metal fandom (at least to an extent), who never listened to anything besides bay area thrash up to a couple years ago, has absolutely praised both of these bands. The guy is going to shows again, and has been reborn as a metalhead. I am not a big fan of either, but I do understand the appeal and importance of revival bands like this. Without Warbringer especially, there is little doubt that my cousin would still be lost in metal-limbo despondence.

Honestly, I think Warbringer has a greater variety in songwriting. Each song has a different sort of peak moment for me, especially on their debut. Evile just gets derivative after a while. On a similar note, I've got pretty good hopes for the new Suicidal Angels album.

I love both bands, Evile do an amazing job covering Cementery Gates, and i love songs like We About To Die. But for me Warbringer is one of the best Thrash bands ever to live, and maybe the best of the new wave along Municipal Waste, Total War blow my mind everytime i listen to it and this guys have the best lyrics. WARBRINGER for me.

14.01.2010 - 19:36 Written by HarmonyCorruptio on 10.07.2009 at 16:56 not true about Warbringer. The Laux brothers were both very friendly, particularly John. Had a beer with them after a gig last month, really nice guys with a very good attitude in regards to touring and playing gigs in front of half-full rooms. they were missing guitarist Adam Carroll (sick, in the hospital) and singer, John Kevill was also sick as hell, but persevered. they won me over. great show in front of a half-full, half dead room still reeling from The Amenta. Succeeded in whipping folks up even a man and a half down. i'll definitely catch them the next time they are in town, they converted me.

I couldn't say anything with regards to their live performances, as I've only ever seen Warbringer live (As a side note: WARBRINGER IS AWESOME LIVE) Otherwise, Evile is great. They have a heavy sound, which I like. Vox are all right, not the greatest though -- they're way too reminiscent of modern Araya vox which I don't dig too much personally. They're good initially, but the problem is that they get too repetitive after a while. They're definitely not a band I could sit through for a long time. First off, for Warbringer, I am just in absolute love with the vocals. I find them refreshing, as you don't find vox like that often anymore (or at least, not in bands I listen to). Instrumentally, they're not as brutal as Evile which is a bit of a downer, but they're fast, thrashy, and they're more versatile with their sound than Evile (especially on their debut album). I can definitely sit through more Warbringer than I could Evile. My vote goes for Warbringer.

16.01.2010 - 12:43 Written by Baz Anderson on 15.01.2010 at 15:07 I wouldn't then in that case...I know Warbringer come to my city like 4 times a year. They open pretty much every show that comes through town. I don't know if I could sit through another one of their sets. So being a constant tour machine, I'm sure catching Warbringer again wouldn't be an issue. Evile on the other it would nice to see them with their new bassist.

Well I am going to it, and I am sure it will be a good show. Warbringer aren't constantly over here, so it isn't like I get chance to see them every day like Saxon or Napalm Death for example.
