Lately, I've been listening mostly to Thrash metal putting my Death Metal love away for a couple months weeks. And I thought, since i'm very curious, that I could write this new topic. Here is my question. What is your personal Thrash Metal anthem. And please, post some comments and explain why you like that song so much ... ... (...) Don't simply put a, I love ''Caught In A Mosh'' for example. Thanks alot and I can't wait to see your personal Anthems Mine would probly be.... between ''Caught In A Mosh'' by Anthrax and ''Stonewall'' by Annihilator First: ''Caught In A Mosh'' Because I love the catchy riffs from the beginning till the end. And I don't know why but I always feel like its agressiv pace makes me relax LOL I know relaxing on Thrash metal is strange. Second: ''Stonewall'' I started listening to Annihilator not so long ago and realized they had a great potential... I mean they're pretty good and I found Stonewall amazing.

What do you actually mean by anthems? According to your post I see that your picks are just Thrash Metal songs that you really like while I think that a Thrash Metal anthem should be a song that contains some kind of important Thrash Metal concept or celebration of Thrash of something like that. Examples: Annihilator's "Army Of One" off the latest album or Metallica's "Whiplash" or "Metal Command" and "Bonded By Blood" by Exodus.

It is really difficult to say at the moment it would be Anthrax - Refuse to be Denied because of it's awesome live performance on their live album ... but the thrash band i listen to most is Testament so in a overall aspect it would be Testament - Over the Wall.

Extreme Aggressions and Betrayer from Kreator, Reborn and Raining Blood from Slayer are IMO real thrash metal anthems. All these songs are super fast (as thrash sould be), have great vocals, and are aggressive as Hell. If I had to choose I'd say Betrayer because it is one of my all time favorites!

Thrash anthems, eh? The superior one is Deathrash by Sarcofago. It's just awesome from the beginning to the end. I also love their bad english. "If you are a false don't entry because you will be burned and died" has to be onte of the best lyrical quotes ever, no matter the context. Other songs that would instantly make me think of the glory of thrash metal would be Sodom's "Blasphemer", Morbid Saint's "Lock Up Your Children" or "Assassin", Demolition Hammer's "Human Dissection" and Exhorder's "Death In Vain".

Duh? The best song of all time since I was 13: Metallica - "Master of Puppets"!!! It opened my mind to longer compositions, Thrash Metal, Extreme Metal and made me see what Metal really is all about. For me Puppetz isn't a song, it's more like a friend to me. It has always been there for me, cheering me up. I actually cried when Metallica played it here in summer '07. You could say that "Master of Puppets" was the final step for me to becoming a metalhead.

Exodus's Toxic Waltz is a great one...I know this might be cheesy but Pile Driver's Metal Inquisition could be a good thrash metal anthem...Anacrusis's Sound The Alarm...

Written by ForeverDarkWoods on 19.01.2009 at 00:42 LOL! Amen to the Morbid Saint too Metallica's Dyers Eve has been one of my fav songs since the first few times I heard it. When I was 16 sitting on my chair in front of the computer I would headbang to it like someone simultaneously in the middle of a lobotomy and a prolonged electric shock. Same goes for most anything off Deadfall's State of the Art EP/album although now I prefer air-drumming to just headbanging, haha. FULL of energy and also good for yelling along. Naturally lots of the well-known hits are candidates; Fight Fire with Fire, Raining Blood, AIR/Armed and Dangerous/Gung-Ho, Peace Sells, and there are just way too many underground songs like the already mentioned Death in Vain, Wargasm's Bullets and Blades, Humanoid and Dead Man's Smile, and Power Race by the more recent band Mastery. The even more recent Vektor's Hunger for Violence and Destroying the Cosmos should be among the future classics.

Well, maybe it's not the most thrashy song of the world, but I confess that Slayer's Disciple from God Hates us All, represents for me all the hate an anger that thrash metal always gives to the mases... Another anthemic song would be War Is My Shephard

Venom's Black Metal, if I'm allowed to consider that thrash, awesome and catchy. Here are some more I really buzz off: Slayer Tormentor Slayer Angel of Death Metallica Ride the Lightning Metallica Master of Puppets Testament Alone in the Dark Testament Disciples of the Watch Exodus Bonded by Blood Exodus A Lesson in Violence Annihilator Allison Hell Possessed The Exorcist Sacred Reich Surf Nicaragua (love the rock'n'roll passage in it) Sepultura Mass Hypnosis Sepultura Refuse/Resist I want to start a thrash party now.
