I know there is topic "best of bm", but this is among all subgenres...i like many of them too, but this topic should be really about this "pure" bm originally from Norway, because i am liking this stuff more and more, so i am interested in good songs mine "top three pics" will be 3. Immortal - Battles In The North 2.-1. Satyricon - Mother North 2.-1. Darkthrone - Transilvanian Hunger cant decide who is winner, both songs are fcking awesome...any other recommendations?

Well.. Transilvanian Hunger is trve but the title is not much norwegian. I suggest Mayhem's classics "Funeral Fog" or "Freezing Moon" and Enslaved "Loke". My winner is this last one.

Mayhem - Chainsaw gutsfuck Burzum - Ea Lord of the Depths Enslaved - Jotunblod Darkthrone - A blaze in the northern sky Immortal - Grim an frostbiten kingdom Dødheimsgard - Midnattsskogens Sorte Kjerne These are my personal favorittes, there are a lot of great NBM bands like Mord or Sorgsvart, but the old school bands rule. But if you are looking some great pagan/black metal experience with a true norwegian feeling I recomand Sorgsvart

Man, Sorgsvart has nothing to do with this "old school norwegian bm"...quality viking folk black yes, i know it and like it, but not to be mentioned in this unholy topic

If i were to cast a singular vote, it would be Darkthrone's "Transilvanian Hunger". as for "Mother North", i find that song terribly overrated. it's the black metal equivalent of a 'get the lighter out' arena singalong anthem. it has never moved me in the slightest.

I don't fully understand this topic - is it just your favorite traditional-sounding song by a black metal band from Norway? If so, then I'd go with Rawness Obsolete by Darkthrone, Jesus Tod by Burzum, Deconsecrate and Funeral Fog by Mayhem, Chasing Dragons by 1349, or Procreating Satan by Gorgoroth. But, if Bergtatt by Ulver and Aspera Hiems Symfonia (Wintry Grey) by Arcturus count, then various songs on those albums will make it to my list. I'm also sure that a few songs by the original version of Stormblast by Dimmu Borgir are amongst the best, but I can't remember song titles atm.

It is not only about "bm songs from norway", but i want them to be "in style of norway's early 90ties BM"...for example Summoning are some sort of BM too, but definitely not meeting this definition (unless you take their early demos)

1349 - Hellfire (Great song, awesome intro "HELLFIRE!") Emperor - Empty (This is a true favorite of BM) Immortal - Damned in Black (Great album and song) Satyricon - Skygardens (I love the riff for this song, would love to hear this album redone with better production)

Also Enslaved (they also used old Icelandic), some Darkthrone songs, Manes, Fleurety's Min Tid... album and some old Forgotten Woods songs come to mind. Also Gorgoroth's Pentagram but they've never printed the lyrics, same goes for Ildjarn and Strid, I think (some songs with titles in Norwegian but the lyrics have not been made public, if I'm not mistaken). Satyricon also had some songs in Norwegian on the first two albums but musically they strike me as quite mediocre when compared to other big Norwegian bands and their early works.

Marduk-The Sun Has Failed- That verse riff is my favorite black metal riff. Mayhem-Funeral Fog-Wait, I lied, the riffs in this song between 26 seconds and 1:33 are my favorite black metal riffs Satyricon-Dark Medival Times-I've spent quite a while looking for a band that conjures a medivaql atmosphere as well as this song, and never have. EDIT: Also, every song by Ragnarok ranks among the best in black metal.
