Both of these bands have been looked upon as non-flowery powermetal and thus more liked by the extreme metallers than f.e the Finnish powermetal style. I personally prefer Kamelot because they have more than 30 excellent songs and even though i like a few Iced Earth songs, none of them comes close to the average Kamelot song. I won't go into detail on what song i like most etc etc, but i just find Kamelot's style better. Melodic, fast, non-generic power ballads and a great vocalist. I'm waiting to hear from others.

Although Iced Earth could be considered a classic by many, Kamelot is a superior band. They have been severely underrated until the last couple years (post-Black Halo) where they have begun to get the recognition they deserve. You're right, headbang vol.99, this band is so much more likeable than the cheesy power metal that seems to seep out of Finland and Europe; Kamelot is a much more down-to-Earth band who have taken the best of power metal and made it better. No songs about slaying dragons. No silly stage costumes. And Khan has a voice like an angel, one of the best voices in metal right now. Yup, Kamelot definitely win this poll.

I love both bands. But since Barlow left, Iced Earth always failed to interest me. And Kamelot has become my fav band ever since i saw them live. They are just amazing! Great music and Khan's voice is just perfect. He's without a doubt my fav male singer. So my vote went to Kamelot

I let win Iced Earth, because I dont like Kamelot so much But this pool bether it sounds Kamelot vs Wirgine Steel, but where are similarities whit Iced Earth and Kamelot in nowdays? Iced eartha re thrash/power/heavy metal and power becaus eof drumms and some melodies, other ways its thrash metal, and thrash lyrics, but kamelot are clasic power metal band, thay even dress diferent like power metal bands, and Iced Earth dress in thtashy style But new Kamelot album are ehhh lst Iced Eart are masterpiece, but kamelot simlpy album

17.05.2006 - 22:17 Written by Bad English on 17.05.2006 at 19:45 agreed I much prefer Iced Earth because they are more of a change from your basic power metal sound (even though I don't consider IE power metal at all...). The same cannot be said about Kamelot, for they are a basic power metal band... When I think of power metal, one of the bands I think of is Kamelot, and not IE. Another reason I like IE more is their speedy and charging riffs (in their pre-Dark Saga albums). I must say, both bands are equally heavy, but IE is just different than every other power metal band.

I think guys dont know music history, Power Metal born in germany in end of 80ties, but before there was Grave Digger, Stormwitch, Accept and many many more german heavy metal bands

Metal-archives says Iced Earth is power/thrash metal. And while i do agree that they may not be a generic power metal band, they have been concidered one as far as i've seen. Thus the poll. Two bands that give power metal a good name. (I aint expressing my own favourites here. My power metal ranges from all over the place)

oooooo this one was soooo hard, but im gonna have to go iced earth, i had to choose by theme/album covers since judging it by music was far too close of a call for me.

I think ill pass in this poll, both bands are both excellent in their own kind of way, The only thing that could make me vote would be Iced Earth with out Barlow for me is no more IE... meanwhile last Kamelot album was an impressive album with really nice tracks and overall great idea... also i think for instance SWTWC is a really great album sided with Horrow Show which are two of the best albums in their genre... soo yeah pretty tough call.. ill say both and wont vote

I voted for Kamelot Iced Earth is a great band. Something Wicked This Way Comes is the greatest metal album of ALL TIME imo, but they haven't captured that magic since. Horrow Show was boring to me and The Glorious Burden is one of the worst albums I've ever heard (not just because of Tim, the music.. it's all bad). Kamelot however has released 5 solid albums in a row, 4 of which are some of my favourites in power metal. Each have their flaws and none are "the greatest of all time" yet they are all enjoyable, special, and ass kicking

Gee i get tired of hearing how people 'lost faith/respect' in IE because Barlow left.... i dont see how its possible, how can you like a band, and because someone leaves, all the material involving them is bad too? Iced Earth is my favourite band, they are my favourite because i enjoy one album almost as much as the other, and that goes for all of them. I dont get turned off from TGB because it has too much patriotism, etc. Musically its not their best, but for catchiness it is right up there, Ripper for me is just as good as Barlow, Greely and Adams. Kamelot have released 4 brilliant albums of recent, but the 3 beforehand are all ordinary. Kamelot is too one of my fav bands, but not as good as Iced Earth, by a long shot.

I couldn't agree more with Dark Cornatus. I find that Iced Earth's non Barlow days were very underrated. Despite that they were at their peak with Matt Barlow, their first two albums were great also, particularly Night Of The Stormrider. Personally, The Glorious Burden wasn't the greatest album they released, though it's not all that bad either. So therefore, my vote goes to Iced Earth. Definitely one of my favourite bands. As for Kamelot, they're a great band also, another of my favourites. They've released all solid albums too, yet personally I prefer Iced Earth by just a bit.

Iced Earth got my vote. Kamelot are also good, but i prefer Iced Earth because they have these thrash elements and the talented guitarist Jon Schaffer.

Kamelot has a lot of better songs and albums then Iced Earth. Iced Earth is still awesome (mainly with Matt Barlow). So Kamelot gets my vote.

See, both bands have very good songs, but I think for my tastes Iced Earth does have more...hmm... longevity. I can listen to it much more. Stuff like Horror Show and Something wicked are to me very difficult to match.

I like them both very much, I have a hard time choosing, but since I guess most of you would vote for Iced Earth, I've voted for Kamelot to help the competition a bit . Kamelot's latest albums are all very good, I really have no remarks on them. Iced Earth's albums are very good too, but sometimes the songs anoy me a bit. I've seen Kamelot live, and I must say that I'd expected them to be better live, but since I haven't seen Iced Earth live, I can't compare both on live performance.

My vote goes to Kamelot. I have not listened very much to Iced Earth, and that is not because I haven't had the opportunity to listen to them, but because they have failed to interest me. Though I still have some cd's to check out, I strongly doubt they will impress me more than Kamelot have done. Kamelot's latest releases 'Epica' and 'The black halo' are amongst the best albums I've ever heard. The compositions are outstanding, to quote miss Proud Autumn: "They've taken the best of power metal and made it even better." Roy Khan is probably one of the best singers in todays power metal scene, if not the entire metal scene. He's way to use his classically trained operatic voice has really amazed me ever since I first heard 'Karma' and 'The fourth legacy'. The guitar work of Thomas Youngblood is as impressive as ever, with beautiful melodies and great solos. For the rhythm section, Glenn Barry and Casey Grillo are a great time, very solid and secure. And the concept of this two latest albums is amazing, very well written lyrics and stories.

I vote for Iced Earth , they are great and they are evolving in each song they wrote. Kamelot is a good band but untill the Black Halo , kamelot where somehow not estimated as they are now. Kamelot have also great songs and i think that they have more than IE but on the whole IE have better music and lyrics than Kamelot
