Iron Maiden - Japanese Shows Cancelled

Following the cancellation of Saturday, March 12th show, Iron Maiden's show scheduled at Saitama Super Arena on Sunday, March 13th is now cancelled as well, due to obvious safety concerns towards the audience, the artist, and the venue, caused by the earthquake of Friday, March 11th. All tickets will be refunded.

The band were flying into Tokyo from Seoul, South Korea following their show there. On approaching Narita Airport Tokyo, Ed Force One was advised to reroute to Nagoya as the earthquake/tsunami had just become apparent. The band stayed the night in Nagoya and following the announcement of the cancellation are preparing to fly out.

Steve Harris has the following message on behalf of the band to the fans in Japan and all who have been affected by this terrible disaster: "We are extremely saddened by the calamitous events of the last day or so which led to the cancellation or our two shows in Tokyo.

Our deepest sympathies go out to everyone affected by this disaster - our fans in Japan, the people of Japan and those in many other places suffering from the Tsunami. We are also aware that a number of fans flew into Tokyo from various parts of the world to see a Maiden show there and we hope you guys are safe and sound. We have had a long relationship with this wonderful country and have always been made to feel most welcome - this would have been something like our 16th tour. Our sincerest condolences to all those who have suffered and to the families and friends of those who tragically lost their lives."

That sucks, but I guess it's for the good of all parties involved. I'd love to see a Maiden concert for Japan, though...

Poor Japanese people. Tsunamis at their heads and now Maiden isn't coming to them either.

To their tombs the people are immured,
There is their gold, treasure and wealth,
The only condition is to ignore them,
Those who feed on corruption and weave death

Dang earthquake. I have sympathy for Japanese people and those in Japan. I have an uncle that's been primarily based there the last few years, but indications point to him being all right. Best wishes to Japan.

The word gen means "illusion" or "apparition." In India, a man who uses conjury is called a genjutsushi ["a master of illusion technique"]. Everything in this world is but a marionette show. Thus we use the word gen.

I wish to express my support to all people in Japan after this awful tragedy. I saw images of everything destroyed and I was extremely sad. And the material damage is not the worst. Many people lost their lives, which is even much more sad.

No one living a quiet and normal life on earth deserves to have to go through something like that. I would not even wish this to my worst enemy.

Japanese people are renowned for their courage and hard work, as far as I know. I'm sure they will overcome this. And even if I sometimes criticize the human nature for being capable of the worst, humans are also capable of the best, especially in tragic circumstances.

I find it unfair, to be honest, when things like that happen. Just like this 14 year-old girl, here in Canada, who died recently because she tried to save her 2 year-old sister while the family's house was in flames. She died as a hero but damn I find such things unfair and sad.

They shake your hand and they smile and they buy you a drink
They say we'll be your friends we'll stick with you till the end
But everybody's only looking out for themselves
And you say who can you trust I'll tell you nobody

The news about that tsunami and the recent earthquake(s) in Japan are totally devastating! My best wishes and deepest condolences go to the whole Japanese nation which I truly respect!

As far as I'm concerned, there also was a nuclear power station in Japan which recently exploded. And now that - Maiden (reasonably) cancelling their Japanese gigs...

@RavenKing: You're right. Japanese people will overcome that crisis, I'm certain of that and I also believe in them! Foreigners are already helping out and things will get better as time passes by. It's not even the destroyed highways, buildings, etc. which are most tragic; it's the loss of so many people that matters here.

Yeah, sure - life is unfair but that's just way too much for mankind to bear...
