What bvand do you think is the most technical? you know, that band that you always move you hands as if you were playing the song but you know you never will. mine has to be Brain Drill its just so insane, period you cant see another band that plays that intense and make it acrually sound good.

When I think technical I always consider like... Bands that use polyrhythms as the most technical. And, with that in mind I would have to say that either Meshuggah or Opeth would take that cake for me.

Leaning towards Meshuggah though...

Necrophagist gets quite crazy. from all the bands i've listened to so far, i'd say they are the most technical one.

That's what I thought/still think about Gorguts. There's a fine line between music that is aiming to be overly technical and that which achieves this yet is incoherent.

I can't answer the question but back in the days when me and my friends used to cover songs and thought about Dream Theater or Opeth it always ended with: "Ah, fuck it... doesn't matter... let's play The Trooper again".

I'd second Meshuggah. Once I tried to play a Meshuggah song using guitar pro. It drove me crazy. Too technical.

If you rule out bands because of weird looking singers, you may find a lot of bands you dont like

PS Watch the video for Protest the Hero- Limb for Limb and let me know if the dancing is manly enough

Cryptopsy by far.

I find their "...And Then You'll Beg"-era work to be particularly stunning in terms of technicality. Nothing I've ever heard surpasses it.

I can't pick one definitive winner (how would you excatly measure anyway), but adepts (some already mentioned) would certainly be: Behold the Arctopus, Psyopus, Meshuggah, Origin, Disharmonic Orchestra and lately I've heard live also Animals As Leaders and they were crazy with their 8-string sticks

I haven't seen Spastic Ink in this thread. It's not strictly metal, and it's instrumental, at least on the first album. But it is the most insanely technical rock music I hvae ever heard.

Tech death has a lead in this category. The most insane I have heard is probably Atheretic. Other contenders include Spawn of Posession, Meshuggah, Atheist, and Blotted Science (the latter is not tech-death!).

I agree with the dislike. IMO these vocals are not metal orientated. Clearly the music is metal and I like it but the vocals ruin the whole song. Can someone explain why these "soft/lame" vocals are acceptable and or popular.
