Skyforger - Well I think I dont need coment nothing about this band
They start whit pagan/black metal and now more pagan/folk metal

Heavens Gray are/was gothic/doom metal band, only in Latvia who palys doom metal, band has one demo and one album, bouth in tapes and its hard to get them, but maybe someone knows this band?

Urskumug - Plays black metal, if you like nordic BM than you like this band, thay are one demo and split album, now thay realised album "Am Nodr"

Whispering Forest are great band: Thay play Deep, dark and atmospheric death/doom metal with female vocals, grunts, an organ, violin, etc. Despite the atmospheric elements, they are gut chrushingly heavy and slow grinding. A bit like early My Dying Bride ('As The Flower Withers' era) but with more atmospheric passages.

Metsatöll would be my choice. I don't like them much but it's the best I can think of from that area. I like some of their songs and the folkish sound that is quite out of the standard.

From this list Ill certainly pick Bestia - one of the best Baltic black/death metal bands. There is a pretty new Estonian doom metal band called Taak - really interesting and some songs also remind earlier Black Sabbaths creation. Taak's frontman is Mart Kalvet who also used to play in Whispering Forest.

From Baltic region I also like Anubi - some kind of avant-garde black metal. And dont forger Assamalla and Kalm - both are on of the best black metal acts from Estonia - disbanded but still.

Yes, Taak is also featured in estonianmetal.com - If you search you can get some songs from there aswell. Taak and Dawn of Gehenna have the same members, but Taak sings in Estonian, Dawn of Gehenna in English - i guess the style is the same aswell.

I use estonian metal, but I had chech all bands, and ow I only lock when I need some new info about those bands, so I try cech them

i'm just hearing Skyforger for the first time now, they have an okay groove to their sound, don't like the vox much though.

this 'baltic metal' scene is quite new to me though.

Probobly for foreners who dont know so much about history, its hard understamnd lyrics, even trasnlated, but its about all viking bands
So seems Skyforger will be popular in America jajaja BTW Trinida and Tobago use to belong to latvia in 17th century and still there live people whit white skin and latvian names, and streets are named like ehre

I think that Whispering Forest deserves the place in this poll because they are excelent!

Their vocalist was very good on their demo but after changed singing style and now it isn't as in good old days. But their music ownz! Skyforger is a very good band not only in Latvia but even in all world. Their music and lyrics are great (sad that you can't understand lyrics...).

Btw what is Heavens Gray? I'm from Latvia but i haven't heard such name.

I think somewhere in net are Skyforger translated lyrics in english, I think he can chach www.skyforger.lv and Heavens Gray dont play some years now thay has demo and e album, I think its hard to get and I had tape, bad quality tape
