The last band I discovered myself was Sulphur Aeon, and they are quite good.

it's a punk rock/indie band from New Jersey and debuted "The Airing of Grievances" record in 2008.

They sound pretty good. So far, i dug up their debut album and will give it a spin to more records.

Post which band you most recently discovered and discuss what you think of them. Have you found your new favorite band or a band you now know to avoid? Let's spread some band names!!!

My latest discovery is 4arm. They are a thrash band from Australia. And they are fucking awesome!

4arm played when I saw Testament. They were surprisingly good.

Cool thread.

I'm on bandcamp literally everyday so I find new bands constantly.

My choice today is gonna be Meth Mouth, powerviolence from Florida.

Powerviolence? Is that a sub-genre?

Yeah it's a grindcore spin off I guess. Like a more aggressive form.

Well, I think that my last discovery was Anekdoten. Psychedelic prog from Sweden, sometimes reminds me of Pink Floyd, and easy-listening band

When I say recently I mean like this year, I don't really try to find new Metal bands anymore because way too often they suck :|

Wilderun, FInally some fresh tones to Folk Metal that doesn't sound like shit!
Totalt jävla mörker - Hardcore from Sweden, Kall värld is like the best fucking song ever
Persefone - Yeah not actually my style even if I like Melodic Death, these guys do some times take the guitar wankery too far

Celephaïs - instrumental atmoblack with a post-rocky feel in places. I don't know much about this sort of music or whether it's good by general MS standards but I quite like it. Bandcamp: http://celephas.bandcamp.com/
Electric Outlet - instrumental jazzy prog rock. Great fun to listen to. They've only got one release (in 2006, so don't expect to hear anything about them any time soon) and it's available on YouTube.
Tangerine Dream - if you ever wondered where Steven Wilson got his inspiration for his proto-PT material, give them a listen. They're probably more well-known than I think, though.
Wolverine - dark prog rock/metal. Can't describe it much further than that.

This could potentially be a brilliant thread.

I am extremely slow in finding new bands, especially these days but the last band I discover is Atrium Carceri, an excellent dark ambient project. It was probably suggested by Joe somewhere in forums. Kudos to him.

I was extremely behind on them but Sabaton. I recently joined a power metal band and thus needed more power metal to listen to. They are awesome though.

Hey, that's a Cyro Chamber release! That's a really cool label, tons of DA bands there, check it out if you want some similar stuff.

@ box: should do asap as I'm becoming increasingly interested in DA music but unfortunately, I'm overloaded by university works for the time being.
sorry I don't know how to quote directly in forums.

Drone Empress
Progenie Terrestre Pura. Italian duo, ambient black metal with a big sci fi theme and a bunch of psychedelic elements to enhance them. Their debut, U.MA., just came out earlier this year and is absolutely fantastic, by far one of the best debuts I've heard from a band in quite a while. I'll be putting up a review of it soon so you all can get a taste of what it's like, and if it's not voted best debut in this year's MS Awards I might just have to decapitate every one of you
