Mayhem - Debut New Single

Get ready for Mayhem. Out of nowhere, the black metal band just premiered their new single called "Psywar". While you wait for their new full-length studio album that is dropping in May, you can always enjoy this. Listen to the song below through a lyric video courtesy of artist Costin Chioreanu.

The 7" single Psywar will precede the album and be released on April 25th, 2014 (April 29th in North America) via their label Season Of Mist. Pre-orders are available here. If this video doesn't work on your location, try this. It might be restricted in some areas.

How is their first new song in seven years sounding?

It's a good one. Seems to me that this is to Ordo ad Chao what Odinist was to MoRT: Similar sound and aesthetic but simplified and more direct songwriting.

Good song. Mayhem seems like the kind of band that does not make the same album twice. I loved Ordo ad Chao, but this one sounds even better. Seems like Telloch is capable of continuing Mayhem's legacy. And heck, Hellhammer is still a fucking monster!

Quite good, even though it seems to sound a bit too "normal" for Mayhem.

Chimera was very "normal", but was great nevertheless.

Honestly, Attila is the only member still keeping me really into this band. Didn't really care for the Maniac era at all, so I'm glad he's solidly with them now.

Oh man, to say I was relieved by hearing that Ordo Ad Chao sound is an understatement. Glad to see they seem to keep that atmosphere and overall production. Great news.

You can't say it's a bad song... but I think I'm never getting used to Attila's spoken vocals... as well as the fact that they are still and officially "Mayhem"... A lot of death metal in there.

Not too weird, sounds quite straitforwards for AttilaMayhem. Still enjoyable, each album by these guys is a totally different entity (and always from good to great) so I expect the same. I like the production, not as asphyxiating as in Ordo but not clean either.

Aside from the spelling errors in the video, that wasn't half bad. Well done, Mayhem.

You're still part of the band. Didn't they make necklaces out of your skull and eat pieces of your brain?

No, that was "Dead" Ohlin.

I like it. Liked Ordo Ad Chao too, but Chimera even better. This is kind of somewhere in between.
