vull insisted for this thread to be created. Since he gave a lot of information about the song is trying to identify, I'm creating this thread for him.

Here's the description:

Quote:

Hello

Maybe someone will recognize a song for me if I describe it a bit? The thing is that I've searched for it for 4 years now or smth, but haven't got any results just because I've searched by keywords. Maybe someone has the song in their head and could help me out here - it's not the type of song that could be forgotten easily!
To the song then:
It's definitely a metal band. something similar to Powerman 5000 - to their guitars perhaps.
And the vocalist sounds more like Slaves On Dope singer than any other... just more agressive and quicker. Perhaps a little bit harder voice as well. But it wasn't as rough as hatebreeds vocalist.
I found antoher band that sounds like this song: Noise Therapy - the vocalist sounds very familiar with it, but perhaps the song I am looking for was a bit more agressive and quicker than most of the Noise Therapy's songs...

The song might go back to year 2000 (or even further back - I heard it first in 2000-01), so it's quite old (it was on the same cassette as Powerman 5000 with it's song Ultra Mega, therefore it has to be year >= 2000. I think the 2 songs followed each other, so they were both recorded at a certain, short period of time).

The one thing i remember about it is that the guy started to sing:
"pump.......pump.....pump it up.. now" (or smth. It's very certain rhythm that he sings it in, so I'm not sure if someone will catch it. "..."-s represent the little pause that you can sing in your head.)
And then the guy started to sing something quite quickly... something like "laaa... la la la la laa la laa." :S - tried to re-create the rhythm, so if you try to read it, perhaps you will get it. Then the music stopped for bass-part culmination:
- The bass produced was just intense! Dunno if it was guitars only, but it sounded like the guitarist started to play from the upper part of the guitar (sorry, dunno name for the place you move your fingers to get the chords - but if the hand moves more up, then it usually creates lower tones and vice versa...) and moved downwards at least 4 times, creating this rapid chord-changes (but actually I'd say that he played more up for about 2 seconds, producing many chords very quickly and then there was 3 moves to lower part of the guitar head, then 1 more upward, somewhere in the middle - and those 4 were made during 1 second at least! then it started all over again).
So i could say that the hand moved on the "guitar head" or smth very quickly, it didn't stand on one place... and the solo was repeated many times. and after that came this "pump, pump, pump it up" part again i think. or maybe there was this singer with the other words again.... and this chord-movement was always behind the pump-it-up part, just that it wasn't so intense that it was during the instruments solo.
any idea what song could it be? i had the song on a cassette, but now the cassette is dissapeared to somewhere - I could otherwise record it to digital format :s

I have got no idea about what song you are talking about since I know only one Powerman 5000 song. From the Tony Hawk Pro Skater nintendo game, and I am not even sure if that is from Powerman 5000. What I suggest is this:

1) Either you download every Powerman 5000 album you can find, and then it will be between those, or

2) You go to: http://www.megatronicrecords.com/phpBB2/index.php. That is their forum, if you post the same message there someone is bound to recognize it.

Hope that helped, sorry I can't do more. Good luck!

thanks wrathchild!
Nervel - thanks to you too! - but i think it's not powerman 5000, because i recorded the cassette myself and don't think that the bands were the same. But i'll give the forum a go!
PS: i've gone through 100+ bands in pandora.com and found out that it's something similar to Noise Therapy (as mentioned above) and Skrape as well. Perhaps something like Endo too. I've got all the Skrape albums and found 1 Powerman 5000 one. I had Endo's song "Suffer" on the cassette as well, so the song that i am looking for just had to be in the period between 2000-2001/2...
PS2: i haven't checked the bands like Stained or Ultraspank yet, but will do it now. i'll try that forum as well!

Try Drowning Pool. They put out an album called "Sinner" in 2001, you could try checking it out on iTunes. I don't listen to Drowning Pool a lot, but they're simular to some of the bands mentioned here so just check them out.

thanks for the advise, but i've got all the Drownin Pool's albums already :-P it's not the band The sinner sounds maybe too "new" or something. The song i am looking for is more like Slaves on Dope style with Powerman 5000 tempo or smth.
and it's not hatebreed either - the singer wasn't so rough..
PS: i checked all the powerman 5000 albums (Anyone For Doomsday, Mega!! Kung Fu Radio, The Blood Splat Rating System, Tonight The Stars Revolt!, Transform, True Force) - it wasn't on them - there wasn't this song "ultra mega" on them either - perhaps it was only on Dracula 2000 soundtrack?

but i'd say that the song was this "playful" style, not this monotone type, where the guy just sings and the others play instruments...
/me keeps looking.

Are you absolutely sure it's not Poweman 5000' Bombshell from Anyone For Doomsday? Here's a link to the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNbkvXoueQc The lyrics would fit into your description somehow.. other than that, i don't think you'll find your song like this.. i mean your description is very approximate, for example if you say the singer or guitars sounds like something it's only your opinion and someone else might not find the connection at all.. and it's very hard to describe the melody or how the song sounds with words, the song structure sounds like every second song released.. the thing i advise you to do is try to remember the lyrics.. atleast more than you wrote right now and try to find it that way, there are million lyric sites so you can do all kind of searches, anyways, good luck:)

From that description of "pump... pump it up now" I can only think of the song from the Beetlejuice Soundtrack. However, it is "jump" instead of "pump". But it is definitely not that one... unless it is a cover. Regarding Orgy, I don't recall a song from Orgy that follows that description, unless I don't get what you mean or if it is from their third album, album that I have not heard yet. Anyway, if something pups up in my mind I will try to help.

thanks. and i really do want to hear it again
but actually yes, it might not be orgy - they sound too artificial. gonna check earshot if i get the albums and stuff. till then, i'm gonna have to do something else.. :\

PS: i'm running out of ideas soon... i'm basically just improvising and now going through this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2001_in_music#Albums_released

but does it help at all if i say that there might have been 2 slightly different-sounding vocalists in "my" song? one for the chorus and the other one for the main song...first one had perhaps this harder voice,..

i've just had a flashback, lol
the song had something to do with a dark cave or smth (in a mountain)
atleast it pictured a cave in my mind - like i was infront of it.. and i think there were couple of hills as well..

hmmm. and i think the guys who sung in the song were like the opposite forces or smth.... so it seemed like they were battling above the mountains. if that makes sense

Oh, sorry, no
i found a paper that had this text scratched on it. i think it was from the time before "i" posted this thread.
the DJ was talking on the cassette after all the songs or before them and i remembered something like this (max sky etc...).
maybe i misheard it or something and someone could actually tell the real title and artist?
but damn....this song was so cool and intense ...

Hi, thanks :p
unfortunately everything i can remember is in this thread already
there was 2 guys more like talking than singing, so there was loads of lyrics and i can't remember any of it for the same reason...
i just can't believe that it's so hard to find the song :/

i think "bobby gaylor - masturbation break" was on the same cassette, but i found that after only couple of years that guy has a great album too.

PS: "statix-c - otsego undead" was on that cassette as well... i think it was near the song i'm currently looking for.
"powerman 5000 - ultra mega" was near the song too, so it has to be from that era...

The only 1 I could find is a Promo they did.

At first I thought it was the Beastie Boys, but apparently they, and the Frisco Fightas, did a club mix of the song!

SO, odds are this is the song you're looking for.
