Astarte - Maria "Tristessa" Kolokouri Dies
Greek black metal act Astarte have lost their main member Maria "Tristessa" Kolokouri. After battling with leukemia, previous updates suggested she might be getting better but today her husband broke the sad news of her passing after complications. Maria founded the band with Kinthia and Nemesis back in 1995.
Her husband posted this update on Facebook: "Maria she's left from this world, you are leaving a lot behind and my soul is in pain. You are a special person, you are my Wife. I will always adore you, our son and everybody that they love you. I will always honour you and you will never be forgotten. Until we meet again my love I will will kiss you from inside of my soul. Your Nick and your son Antonios."

Oh man that's devastating news, she looks beautiful too  I didn't know the band beforehand but it always sucks when band members pass away like this. R.I.P and condolences to her family and the rest of the band

I never cared for the band but dying of leukemia is very sad. I don't know her age but she looks young enough (too young to die). Beautiful woman, too.

She will be missed, she will be always in my heart, as one of the first women I came to know in extreme metal scene and also one of the first all-female bands in BM.... YOU WERE A BIG INSPIRATION dear Maria.

Indeed... sad news of her passing. Just when she finished with band issues and was prepared to come back recording a new album, cancer fucked it all up. RIP Tristessa!

Didn't think she was much of a vocalist (thought Kinthia was better) but she wrote some great stuff as their main songwriter. Sad loss fro her family, friends and fans.

Could never quite enjoy the music they made but it sucks any time someone loses a battle with cancer. Nature's last defense against overpopulation, I suppose.
