Dream Theater - Keyboardist Jordan Rudess Up For Grammy Nominations
In the beginning of 2014, the talented keyboardist of Dream Theater, Jordan Rudess, released two new solo albums: the successfully crowdfunded Explorations, recorded with the Sinfonietta Consonus symphonic orchestra, and All That Is Now which is generally a "piano album" (initially released in December 2013). And what's really surprising is the fact that both of them are up for consideration for Grammy nominations.
Categories:
Explorations for Keyboard & Orchestra: Best Contemporary Classical Composition, Best Classical Instrumental Solo, Best Orchestral Performance, Best Classical Compendium, Best Instrumental Composition.
All That Is Now: Best New Age Album.
Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree called Explorations the most successful fusion of rock and classical sensibilities he has ever heard, while the ex-member of Yes and film composer Trevor Rabin praised the integration of the synthesizer, which, based on his opinion, sounds like it should be a voice in the traditional orchestra.
If you want to listen to the albums, check out Jordan Rudess Bandcamp page.
