At times obstacles get in our way to do something as simple as assisting to the performances of those bands we love and adore can be. Obstacles like exams, work, parents, age, money, etc. which make us renounce to the opportunity of listening to great bands live. It has happened to me with a few bands (I say few bands because my country has not been graced with the visits of many bands), bands like Hatebreed, Six Feet Under, Soulfly, Megadeth, Iron Maiden (well, I wasn't even listening to Metal when they got here but I will blame my ignorance for missing them then lol), Judas Priest, among others.

Here you can share with your fellow metalstormers your sorrow, your frustration of missing those concerts. Do not forget to tell us why you missed them.

As for me, the last concert I missed was Dream Theater playing at our capital. Why did I miss these Progressive Metal deities? I had no way of getting into San Juan that night so I had to miss it.

Iron Maiden in Paris last summer. I ended up not being able to go back to france at the last minutes .
Dream Theater's 20th anniversary tour, my parents wouldn't let me.

Yeah, I missed Dream Theater too when they played here live in October and it was the worst feeling ever. Tickets got sold out far too quick. I was in the queue of an Iron Maiden gig when I got the news that I couldn't go. :'(

Though the most recent gig I missed was this past weekend; "Day Into Night Festival" in London here. I missed such awesome bands as Akercocke, Zyklon, Decapitated, Carpathian Forest, Headless Cross etc. I'm not too annoyed about that one though; I've seen Akercocke already and will be seeing Zyklon in September when I get tickets. I'm gutted about Carpathian Forest though. I'm sure I'll catch them some point in my lifetime. And I missed the fest because of a lack of money.

You're not alone, though living in America you probably have a greater chance of seeing them before myself.

This year I already missed two concerts. The first one was Moi Dix Mois in Germany because the train ticket was just too expensive. I even considered to stay up the whole night(to spare the costs of an hotel) just to see them. Too bad it was still too expensive..

And I will miss King Diamond because of the final exams. I am too busy with studying, so I can't see him..

Green Carnation with beyond the embrace, in the woods..., and Emperor. i couldnt go, coz they had this stupid age limit thing. you had to be 19 in order to get the tickets. i some how got the tickets, but i had to sell them at the door, coz that stupid bouncer fucker wont let me in!

The Gathering: i missed them twice! the first time i missed them was a week after i got introduced to them. i was really mad at my friend coz, she told me about them AFTER they hit toronto. and the second time was rather recent. it was 2 months ago. i missed them this time around coz i had a stupid exam for nightschool. and if i skipped that, i would have been kicked out, even if i faked a stupid note!

I missed Behemoth and Morbid Angel last month. I really wanted to see Morbid Angel but unfortunatley I couldn't get a ride.

Opeth... Two reasons, 1st... I moved to Queensland less than 2 months before they were due in sydney, 2nd since moving to the gold coast, my funds are low to the point where there is no way i could afford to get to Brisbane to see them there either. Well there is always next time.

I missed Nile / Yyrkoon / Psycroptic in the beginning of this month...
My friend wound up in the hospital in the last evening before the gig day so I didn't feel like going alone.

I missed Behemoth and Nile, i just forgot about them....
I havent missed a great deal though.

I missed Edguy . . . didn't have any money. Edguy is a great band, but one of the bands that opened up is even better, DragonForce!

I missed Nile some time ago, I had made other plans already and couldn´t really change them. I heard the gig was great, though. It really is sad to miss good bands like that.

Dragonforce and Black Majesty, which is on tonight. Didn't have the funds to go.

missing dragonforce tonight because i'm not 18 yet. missed cryptopsy a few weeks ago for the same reason.

There are far too many bands playing in my area, so I missed lots of them due to the lack of money. Some examples I wish I had seen: Opeth, Rage, Haggard, Freedom Call, Nevermore (I really hate myself for that one), Mercenary, Psycroptic, Kataklysm, Callenish Circle and so on and so on...

Now there are also two bands I missed recently simply due to exhaustion: Moonsorrow and Helheim. Both bands were playing as the last band each of an exhausting day at the 2-day Ragnarök Festival. While I still overheard some Moonsorrow, but fell asleep all the time, I just hadn't the strength anymore to attend the Helheim gig, which was quite annoying since they were one of the main reasons for me to go to that festival.

Sunn O))) and Earth earlier this year. At the time I hadn't heard anything of either bands, but was curious about Sunn O)))'s live performance, as I've read they give a very unique experience. Unfortunetly the gig was on a Saturday night and I work Saturday nights

There's a shitload of shows every week in Paris so I get to miss most of them, but the last one I missed that pissed me off was Sepultura and In Flames one month ago. I missed it because I'm obviously not able to buy tickets when there are still some left. This fucking show was sold out three weeks before.

I missed Katatonia twice and Sentenced. Two my best bands. . Katatonia and Sentenced played two years ago in Tolmion....in town where I live, but at that time I didn't listen to metal jet. DAMN!!! and Sentenced are no longer together. And few days ago, Katatonia played in Treviso in Italy, and I could go, but I had an exsam next day, I didn't have a ride and noone that I know is interested in that band.
Ah fuck, I will never forgive myself, if I won't see Katatonia once alive,...it's enough sad that I haven't see Sentenced in my own town, less than 1km from my house. Shoot me.

I'm going to miss (cuz I don't have enough money, and the necesary means of transport) a concert of Novembre/Obituary on june 17.

I missed Nile, they were here this January. I'm not a fan of death metal but their latest album was really amazing.

I'm REALLY mad I missed Hammerfall and Edguy. They came the same week as Therion (last August, 2005) and I had NO money at all, but managed to scrap enough together for Therion. I just wish I hadn't been temporarily poor when 2 great shows were in town. Arg.

Also, I am going too miss Evergrey. They're playing a USA tour right now and skipping ALL the big cities on the west coast. They're just playing a bunch of small towns and I can't take the time right now for a road trip.

I missed Nile, they was in Rīga and Vilnus, but I didnt know about that thay come to Rīga, only about vilnus, but Vilnus are far from me and its expencive go there, so I didnt see Nile

Desert Rock 2006 In Dubai, Megadeth, Testement, ....and some other shitty rock bands...i bought the concert tickets 100$,,and i bought a plane ticket 700$, and i missed it because the death of some one soo close to me ...i couldnt go :S:S

I have missed Mago de Oz in Quito (Ecuador) when I was there, I returned to Peru one day before the concert!
Also April 25 this year I missed Tierra Santa because it was too expensive (50 soles = about 15 dollars) and it was on tuesday and I had an important test next day!! That is bad luck

well, i've been missing loads of concerts lately, it's like a gift, missing concerts
there's Dream Theater, Angra, Destruction, Kreator, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse and the list could go on foerever, and all cuz i'm too much of an alcoholic and can't save money
but i'll take revenge, it seems like Slayer is coming in September, i'll try my best to save money to go

Well, I missed the big New England Metal Festival last month. As a student, I had "educational obligations" to deal with, and I let down a few friends for not going.

... I can be such a tool sometimes.

... but then again, there were only a small handful of bands I really wanted to see, and the sets were just 20 minutes long, so I doubt I missed much.

well I missed out on seeing Dragonforce last week, i didnt know that they were playin and I found out to late and i couldnt get time off work. man it sucked.
but what sucked even more was missin out on the opeth concert a little while before. much of the same reason.
Damn it why cant i hear about these things sooner?

In the past few months, I missed Scar Symmetry, Korpiklaani, Sonata Arctica, DragonForce and Kamelot all for different reasons. Money is not really a problem at the moment, but I NEVER have anyone to go with, nor do I have the proper means of transport to get there.
