Pretty interesting and different album after the two previous ones, that were kind of predictable. I don't hear much trad doom anymore, I guess there's some stoner elements like the style on this site says, a bit of prog and 70s rock. "Samaritan Burden" could be the band's best song I've heard so far, and "Hey, Doctor" is killer track too. "The Alchemist" has promising start, but IMO eventually doesn't quite prove to be the masterpiece lots people are calling it as. For now, The Alchemist sounds like their best album from the first three, though it's hard to say how will it turn out to be in the long run. Also Pelander's vocals seem to have improved once again, and on this record his voice is quite possibly the strongest aspect to this music.
