This is a question that I've been rolling around in my head for the last week. I figured these two brutal death titans were fairly comparable. Erik with Deeds of Flesh has helped to set a standard in brutal death metal and constantly proves why he is so well respected within the genre every time they put out an album. Shawn Whitaker on the other hand feels a bit less well known but still remains a very important musician to the genre, with his one man band Insideous Decrepancy and his other band Viral Load Shawn has also contributed his voice and guitar to numerous other bands and remains an intergral part of the brutal death metal genre
Have fun answering this one, after all I think it is a tough one, compare things like lyrics, vocal talents, and instrumentation. I personally have to give this one to Erik Lindmark, its undenyable that he has left a huge mark in the development in the genre and will only continue to provide brutal death fans with extremely solid releases in the future. besides that I hope the next insideous decrepancy album kicks ass as well as the next deeds album (even without Jacoby...damn he will be missed).

hmmmmm this is really hard. Erik said that the new Deeds of Flesh album will be over-the-top technical, without any riffs repeating themselves during each song. Plus, his vocals are fucking monstrous. On the other hand, Shawn fucking Whitaker writes all the music for Insidious Decrepency, and the stuff he makes is also impressive. I think their vocals are equally devastating and both are extremely skilled guitar players, but I'm going to have to go with Erik....I think. Actually no, I'm going to have to vote some other time lol.

Tomorrow at work I will play my favorite album by each band, and then hopefully I'll be able to make a decision.

Shawn for me. Deeds of Flesh's music, while good, tends to bore after awhile. I'm am yet to get tired or any of Shawn's material.

I think I'm going to vote for Erik because his riffing is more fluid than Shawn's. It can be technical at times, especially on Crown of Souls, but the songs still maintain a flow, unlike some songs by Insidious Decrepency.

That was a really hard decision lol.
