Dutch blackened folk metal duet Alvenrad returns with their 3th full length epos Veluws IJzer, which will see the light on September 23.
The album also includes many guest musicians such as: Hanna De Wijs - van Gorcum (sings Bach and Handel), Thomas Cochrane (Vetrar Draugurinn, ex-Ancient Rites, trumpet/trombone), Thirza Fekkes (works with Heidevolk, violin), Antal van Ass, (flute), Rosie Taekema (Ayreon Project, cello), Tineke Roseboom (Ayreon project, fl out).
Drums recorded in E-Sound Studio's All other recordings in Luidheim studio in the Wenummermarke. Mixing and final editing by Markus Kalthallen (Ash Of Ashes, Hell)
*Gust of the Wall Perné had pledged his heart to the Veluwe and Nordic mythology like Alvenrad. This is expressed in his famous "Veluwsche Sagen".
Official Facebook statement: "New album is dedicated to Veluws nature, history and folklore.
"Referring to the iron mined in this region for centuries, they forged their most powerful work to date. Alvenrad takes the listener through endless heath and through lonely forests in the heart of Veluwe. Thus, this album offers a balanced variety of varied exalted clear singing and grimly screaming singing in freely-fighted metal compositions, which are secretly complemented by orchestrations and folk music. The album comes with an array of paintings and screenprints by Gust van de Wall Perné (1877 - 1911).
"Fighting free as the band is, with property and heritage high at stake, they still go their own way; such are narratives of the medieval iron industry, the furious grounds, the deer source, the kingdom of sages, the struggle for existence and the history of mythical origin. They are still going on untracked paths; this is how they use the German style in the song lyrics, the Veluw regional language in certain passages and folk music from the Low Countries. They also reached out to the residents of Veluwse themselves, for a helping hand and stories."
