Blut Aus Nord

Spanning black metal and industrial/ambient, Vindsval has created an absolute monolithe in post bm. He began with the title 'Vlad' before changing the name after two demos and creating the much loved 'Ultima Thulee' which really put them on the map. As his career progressed he experimented with industrial and ambient and has carved the now highly stylised and distinctive Blut Aus Nord sound.

Account deleted Written by X-Ray Rod on 03.08.2012 at 10:33 Well it's industrial metal... BaN have never done a full industrial album and to be honest I wouldn't want to hear that because it'll probably end up sounding like 'Level-2 Nothing Is Not'. Their brand is the industrial metal riff, rather than the standard industrial you can find anywhere. But yes it is missing the ambient component but that was only a snippet of the album. I doubt they'd make a preview of ambient parts so I'm hoping it'll have a nice emphasis on that.

Hmmmm me likes. Looks like the typical BaN style with an epic touch, whereas Sects was more agressive bm and Desanct psycho/spacey... cool progression if it ends up being so. Dat white t-shirt looks sexy, haven't seen an appealing BaN shirt before so I'll pick it up !

I just want this album to develope further the evolution in sound I hear from Sect(s) to Desantification... and the trailer gave me the feeling that just continues with the style of Desantification.

Account deleted Written by X-Ray Rod on 03.08.2012 at 20:38 I'll be surprised if there's any black metal on this one. The preview didn't really give anything away about what the body of the album will be like, just a few key epic riffs. I'm keeping all fingers crossed that it'll be a Frozen Cells/Dead Clowns fest

03.08.2012 - 20:49 Written by [user id=4365] on 03.08.2012 at 20:43 I hear virtually no of BM on Desantification. But yeah... Frozen Cells/Dead Clowns fest sounds insanely hot. The thing is that I don't want to listen to the album and say "Man this album is awesome, same style as Desantification but still awesome". Nah... I want it to have clear difference just like Desantification differs from Sect(s).

Account deleted Written by X-Ray Rod on 03.08.2012 at 20:49 Compared to say, TEoAM and MoRT, there's still a definite undertone of black in many of the songs, even if it is just a vocal thing. I wouldn't call Desanctification 100% black metal free whereas the other two I probably would. I find it difficult to believe that it would be too similar to be honest, it's been stated a few times that it's different; an evolution process. It'll probably be slower, perhaps even uplifting.

I prefer their other works than both the Liber releases. Sounds too monotonous to me

I would love if BAN went to a more majestic epic Memoria style instead of the industrial aspects of the first 2 sects. BAN have always used those two styles perfectly and cosmosophy would be a fitting end for that. Ultima Thulee is still my fav. Some of the coldest yet beautiful black metal done at that time.

With Cosmosophy coming out, it got me really excited again about this band so I went back and rediscovered the only album I have by them, Memoria Vetusta II. Holy fuck that album is amazing. So much amazing harmony and atmosphere and grooves. They all take you off guard as the sounds meld together. It's so rich I almost feel like I can sink my teeth into it, or fall into its abyss. wow. So, two things. First, if I love the textures of MVII, where's the best place to go from there and two, anyone listen to Cosmosophy yet? I think it's out already in Europe, right? Any thoughts on it?

Hmmmm true that MVII might not be incredible, definitely not on the same level as MVI (and also some sort of parenthesis of the industrialized sound developped) , but overall both are among my favorite melo black albums, so I am quite excited
