At last i listened to this new album and it was surprisingly good its not the same Ensiferum and never cant be the same again! but its a good folk metal, why dont we put a new name on this band?

their real line-up was Jari on guitars, jari on vocals and his sprite on other instruments and of course lyrics

There once was a thread about amateur trading card game being developed which should be something like "band members battle"...unfortunately the topic got dead so i dont know how it ends, probably it really died...but it should be nice for this purpose .)

Just Finished listening to From Afar, and its Meh... I really like "Smoking Ruins" and The Longest Journey Twilight Tavern is ok too, anybody else listen to it ? ( I got Hookups that's how I got The CD)

Yes, i did...currently i like Victory Songs more, but i can possibly change with more listenings...

Am I the only one who doenst download the album and wait for the order CD to arrive? Well seems like many ppl here likes the album. Its more fun and excited to unpack the CD from the plastic, look at the amazing cover art once more, look through the booklet and put the CD on in my CD-player! Can't wait til that day! September is near!

I have the promo copy, so at least I have a clean conscience .
I'll have a review for it closer to its release, but at the moment I prefer "Victory Songs". I think it's those two long songs - they aren't good enough and take up most of the CD.

Got used to some atmospheric bm albums with all songs lasting at least 8 minutes, i dont have any problem with that besides i kinda like those "long ones", though yes - it arent really "asskickers"

I've listened to From Afar 8 times but I like Victory Songs more. Maybe it will change after more listenings.
Anyway I wasn't really impressed. :/

I saw these guys open for Amon Amarth a few months ago and they were really good. I need to pick up some of their stuff, so I was wondering if someone can recommend which album I should get first.

Reading the rest of the thread would be a decent idea...You'll notice there's quite a conflict about that. Personally I'd say Victory Songs, but most people would disagree with me on that.

Anyone heard the Nordman cover yet, "Vandraren"? I'm waiting my ass off to hear it, can't imagine Petri trying to sing in Swedish. Vandraren was one of the tracks that I wanted to hear a metal cover on the first time I heard it..

I need to get back into Ensiferum but damn, I must say you guys all have fine tastes on this forum.

That's a given that there are better bands... but it doesn't hurt to have them on one's "list" in my book. Damn it's gonna take me forever to get to 100, I want to post some fuckin' threads.

as for albums, i've listened only to their first 2 albums, which are INCREDIBLE, especially the first one, if you really like your music epic, try "Iron" and "Into Battle" from their second album and "Battle Song" from their first, imagine Amon Amarth with black metal and clean vocals using trumpets and other ultra-epic instruments. if i'd have to categorize them in a genre i'd say they're Extreme Epic Folk metal, excellent shit.
