Okay I did a search and I didn't find any topics like this. This thread is about those local bands in your hometown that haven't gotten known yet (all genres are welcome). And please don't just list the bands. Give us a link to a website, or to some mp3s if it's possible and let's have a discussion here. This is a good way to discover new and unknown bands. I'll start.

I'm from Regina SK, Canada and of course Into Eternity is the best band from here IMO. However we do have a few other good bands. One is "Itchy Stitches" which is a death/thrash metal band(???) with a female lead vocalist. http://www.myspace.com/itchystitches.

The Orchard is another band and they are probably the biggest local band here (except for Into Eternity). I've seen them live twice before and they put on a pretty good show. You can hear a couple of their tracks on their myspace: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=65073383

The last band that I can think of for the moment is a pagan black metal band called "Wold". Their music has some noise/industrial elements and they are rather interesting. Their official site is here:http://wold.cjb.net/

There are about 6 bands from my hometown listed in Encyclopedia Metallum, but none of them are notable.

The most famous musicians from where I live are probably Geri Halliwell and Elton John. The most famous ones who play 'heavy music' are Gallows. But as for anyone that people here actually care about, I live a fairly short drive away from the birthplace of Porcupine Tree.

EDIT: Oh, and Deep Purple are a little further away.

and your home town is?

Edguy played here last year apparently.

...That's just about the only noteworthy metal-related story about Watford. :x

I live in a small town with 9000 residents and here are only a few bands like Soulsteeler. But when I look a litle further, let's say in a circle of 20 km then there's:
Bliksem (thrash with a female vocalist)
Leave Scars (thrash)
Crimson Falls (melodic death and I know the guitarist)
Oceans Of Sadness (death/black/gothic 6 full lengths and split in 2011)
Exoto (death/thrash) and reunited in 2013
In-Quest (the band that was formed after our own band System Shit disbanded
- one guitarist (one of my best friends and in System Shit) played for about 10 years in In-Quest and later in Unleash The Fury
- the drummer plays also in Saille (back in the days in System Shit)
Agathocles (grindcore with driving force Jan Frederickx who I know since 1991, they(he) played all over the world, released more stuff then Metallica and Iron Maiden together and did splits with almost every band in the world.

Well, I'm from Brasilia (Brazil) and the Metal scene is not much strong in here, but we have a really great band in here. It's Modern Metal or Alternative Metal, or something like that. I really don't know how to classify it, mostly because I'm more into Black/Folk Metal. Their influences are bands like Fear Factory, Meshuggah, Gojira, Depeche Mode, Katatonia. The band's name is Optical Faze and recently they've released a full-lenght album produced by Rhys Fulber (which produced bands like Fear Factory and Paradise Lost) which is called "The Pendulum Burns". The album counts with Jed Simon (ex-Strapping Young Lad) as a guest musician too, he plays a guitar solo in one of the songs. It's really well produced and the band has some talent and potential, but they are facing a hard time here in Brazil, because we don't have much of a structure for musicians in here and for metal musician it's even worse. So I'm here trying to spread a little more of their awesomeness to the world! Hahahaah!

I can't really say much about their sound. I'm not good at this. The Pendulum Burns is a heavy and aggressive album, more slow-paced and with some kind of a melancholic atmosphere. You all can hear it on their website: http://www.opticalfaze.com.br/. My favorite song is "Red Sun" - and I think you all should check this song out. That is it. Hope you enjoy it! o/

I'm from Burlington Iowa, and unfortunately our music scene has almost disappeared. But there are a few bands still remaining. For metal there's only 3 left...

1. Allied Forces... a partial cover band that also does originals. They just had their first show a couple of weeks and back and did very very well. I played in a band with three of their members for almost 7 years. There's no music available to listen to yet but they are in the process of doing some recordings. Very reminiscent of Iron Maiden style metal, with some Judas Priest flavor added in as well. https://www.facebook.com/#!/alliedforcesia

2. Disintegrator... a very good new straight ahead metal band. They just recently started playing shows and got the opportunity to open for Havok recently. Good dudes with some good tunes. You can hear a demo version of one of their tracks here... https://www.facebook.com/#!/metaldisintegrator/app_2405167945

3. The Desolate... last is my band The Desolate. We are a melodic death metal thrash metal hybrid. We've been lucky enough to open for some big bands and are trying to turn this whole music thing into a career. You can download our entire first album for free and hear a few new songs from our 2nd album here... https://www.facebook.com/#!/TheDesolate/app_2405167945
