So i wanted to know whos your favourite out of these four massive 80s thrash metal bands based ONLY on their material from that decade. Helps if you would explain on your choice.

The albums (not inclueding EP's) that are inclued from this decade are:

Anthrax:
Fistful of Metal
Spreading The Disease
Among The Living
State of Euphoria

Megadeth:
Killing Is My Business
Peace Sells... But Who's Buying
So Far, So Good... So What

Metallica:
Kill 'Em All
Ride The Lightning
Master Of Puppets
...And Justice For All

Slayer:
Show No Mercy
Hell Awaits
Reign In Blood
South Of Heaven

My favourite out of the list would be Slayer. They are my favourite thrash metal band and all their albums that came out in the 80s are my favourite albums and get played on a regular basis. Jeff's and Kerry's guitar work is amazing with the riffs that the two come up with... plus "Reign In Blood" is one of my favourite metal albums created.

80's? Metallica. Megadeth was good too, and Anthrax was... somewhat decent.

All are good in their own right. I must say
1. Slayer
2. Metallica (if we are talking 80s only)
3. Megadeth
4. Anthrax (I've never been a huge fan, the solos i've always found to be really weak even in their 80s stuff)

Really there is only a couple of Metallica's songs from the 80's that are overrated. But they weren't that way in the 80's. As soon as Guitar Hero came out and "One" was on it. Tons of kids seemed to be huge Metallica fans, but only knew that one song. Its not even that good of a song if you as me. The second would probably be the song "Master of Puppets". It seems like almost every person you ask that knows a bit more about Metallica than "One" or "Enter Sandman" will say "Master of Puppets" is their best song. Which I don't so either.

But to stay on topic, I'm going with Slayer on this one.

Metallica for me, I really like their instrumentals and their longer songs, they looked to be going in a more relatively "proggy" direction with their albums than the other bands did.

Personally I find metallicas stuff very overrated.
And I think Slayer and Megadeth are better

Metallicas best album is ride the lightening.
Metallica just sucks these days.

Megadeth, I guess. I barely listen to any of them anymore, though.
