I already have quite a few albums to look forward to in 2016, so I figured we'd go ahead and get this thread started. The two so far are the upcoming Ctheilist and Lycus albums. Ctheilist embody all that is great with strange Lovecraftian death metal, while Lycus are an incredibly solid funeral doom outfit.

May be you slow down a bit as "too many recs" looks bit a junk.

You can post as much stuff as you want, but I probably won't check out any of 3rd or mz's recommendations since there are just too many.

Yeah, I have to admit the wall-of-recs thing does make it hard to check stuff out. I just go for ones with pretty art, and not many of those have that aside from the last Sinistrous Diabolus one (which is probably why I clicked on it).

How on the earth posing 2016 records on a 2016 recommendation topic is spam, given the fact that for each recommendation, link, description and the cover art are provided ? The albums I'm posting here are the ones that I find enjoyable, not all the albums I check. In addition, I do not think that the overall pace is much more than what we typically had in days which forums were more active. At the end, what's the difference if I recommend 10 albums or we split it 5-5 between me and say, Paz? I figured that I will not have time again for searching for music, and will probably not contribute much to this topic this year.
That being said, you can rejoice as I do not think that there are much "easy" resources for me left for music discovery now.

Zap & Joe, I'd definitely pick out Orbalisk, Holyarrow, Siaskel, Death Metal Pope and maybe Nornahetta as the stand out stuff from what I found.

Like mz said, I did listen to 95% of the stuff I posted as well. The only album I didn't listen fully was the wonders of nature compilation and their 2 hrs long ambient album. So its not a like a wall of crap since I did find them worthy of a recommendation, I did in fact skip posting a lot of albums that I listened since they were not of much worth. And I do have only weekends to catch up on all the awesome music hence the barrage of posts.

It was too much fun.

I guess it was more of a discovery thing for me rather than as a recommendation. The last time I really had a deep dive listen was back in 2013 and just wanted to go back at it again.

Not sure if this was posted yet, probably was, but here's a black metal super group EP, featuring members from Leviathan (Wrest), Blut aus Nord (not Vindsval), Misþyrming, Wormlust, Chaos Moon and Aosoth. Pretty good dissonant black metal but sounds a bit too much like you would expect it to sound.

Yep, looks like mz already posted it.

Mahdi, no one said that you are spamming this thread. We just think that the number of recommendations is simply overwhelming. And in the end, we will check only a few of these.

Geez, if you guys think it's too much recommendations just read the genre descriptions and filter by that, that's what i did.

Martröð - Transmutation of Wounds

It sounded like Aosoth. Nothing mindblowing, unfortunately. That Wrest-y change of pace in the second track was cool though.

The second track is definitely the one that stands out. On the whole though it just all sounds too much like a compromise.

I don't think anyone will have an issue with recommendations coming from any users as long as they sounds really good. What i meant is that too many recs will let people skip over and listen to other bands.

Splits are usually a bit rubbish these days but the quality here seems to be 1 - 1. Both sides play really well produced, punchy death-ish blacks of sorts with twists and turns. Jolly good.

The artwork was done by some guy. Dunno who.

This is fucking awesome and vicious. Some of the most ball-grabbingest best stuff I've heard this year. The melodies really take it into another dimension as well. That sound.

The entire album is quite good, tbh.

It seems like Season Of mist is finally on the up again with their releases after having released lots and lots of mediocre stuff over the past five or so years.

One man funeral doom from Sydney. No one is reinventing the wheel here and it doesn't really make up any bit for the lack of Elysian Blaze but this is some really well written doom worth its time. Good thing the music quality doesn't mirror that of the cover art, this is pretty boss. \m/

Surprised this isn't even posted as I've listened to it months back. Indeed there is some really lazy promotion this year like mz said.

Big Apple's answer to Mayhem's Ordo Ad Chao. Though not utterly hookless and labyrinthine as the original.

I've only heard the singles, and indeed it seems that the album is good enough. And yeah, I was surprised when they signed with SoM tbh.

New worm ouroboros. Not bad, but takes too much of time for some nice development.

This is quite lovely and filthy. The kind of thing Ilham would review/recommend actually.

EDIT: I did just notice Ilham has them on her list
