PS And I like Nightwish, but there was more better "hard-rock" releases that could get the award...

Heh, you can't expect REAL death metal to win anything official. And Sonic Syndicate best newcomers? We're doomed.

Sonic's label pays a shitload of money to magazines and all to promote that band.

Its good to see both Crashdiet and Hardcore Superstar win, but in all fairness they should've been put in the same category.

Yeah, a Glam Rock category, where Hardcore Superstar would have won easily.

Ummm, Nightwush are metal. It'd be interesting to see Europe live nowadays, But it wouldn't be weird to a Swede as I believe Glam/Sleaze is still alive and well there.

Really lackluster choices if you ask me. Now what I'm wondering is why there is no metal awards ceremony thing over in America.

Yeah, as much as I loved the new Crashdiet album (from the few times Ive heard it, plan on buying it soon), I know the new HCS album totally deserves it.

@Insineratehymn: Because in the U.S. , Metal is not so commercial, whereas in Scandinavia it is. In America, the music that gets most attention is Country, Rap, R&B, Pop, Emo, Rock. Here in The Bahamas it's the same, except Country is only appreciated in Abaco (a predominately Caucasian family island) and Spanish Wells (a predominately caucasian settlement in Eleuthera) and In The Bahamas there is an additional appreciation for Reggae, Dancehall, Soca and Rake N' Scrape (Bahamian Calypso). Oh and I find that some of the 'Upper Class' people like some techno. It depends on what the young people like in the country.

And I think awards should be for year 2007 not 2008... But who cares really...

It is for year 2007, and not 2008. It's just like all other award shows and things like that. If we say the Oscars for exampel. The Oscars for this years movies (2008) is awarded at next years Oscars, but those awarded for the movies of 2007 is awarded at the 2008 addition of the Oscars. You see?
