It doesn't need to make sense or be realistic but I know everyone here has thought up a metal dream team (or something similar) before. For example, here are a couple of the many "rosters" I've penned during math class:

"Vogg" Kiełtyka-guitar
Jeff Loomis-solos
Johan Hegg-vocals
George Kollias-drums
Alex Webster-bass
Michael Jordan-shooting guard/synth

or (as an example of a rather ridiculous mix of musicians)

Jari Maenpaa-vocals/lead guitar
Inferno-Drums
Alex Camargo-bass
Corpsegrinder-lead vocalist

James Hetfield - Vocals/rythm guitar
Dave Mustaine - Lead guitar
Jason Newstead - Bass/Backing Vocals
Dave McClain - Drums

Drums: Dave Lombardo

It'd be a four-piece of the big four. And those would be the best picks IMO. Also personally I think those are the best aspects of each band. James and Dave are great guitarists and singers, but I'd probably have James as the lead vocals/rhythm. Frank Bello's bass stands out fairly well I've noticed and they seem to have the better bassist of the big four. And well, I don't need to explain why I'd pick Lombardo, that one is just a given .

This one may be overly simple, but Dave Mustaine returning/collaborating with Metallica again. Current Metallica line-up plus Dave. That's a good enough dream band to start with...

Somehow I think this may end up a mediocre Bone Gnawer/Hellyeah/Ov Hell supergroup thing. Only they'll play mediocre thrash instead of decent but forgettable death/terrible southern metal/decent, forgettable black metal.

They're called Big Four for a reason. I don't think you fail to notice those bands' importance to metal in general.
If you start proving to me how bad these bands are nowadays or something similar, I'll die laughing.

Yes, but I'm sick of seeing the same old orthodox views and tastes. Not much fresh air.

We all know the Metallica story, so I won't bother explaining it. Megadeth started to show minor downhill signs since Countdown to Extinction in my mind, but didn't completely sink until Risk (I liked Youthanasia myself though it was a decline from their usual style, but mostly hated Cryptic Writings). I admit, I'm not too big on The System Has Failed (and I wasn't fond of TWNaH), though it was decent, I still like UA despite all the negative feedback it gets and Endgame was pretty damn solid.

Slayer went on well for the first five albums, then declined a bit with Divine Intervention (though I liked it), released the awful Undisputed Attitude and Diabolus in Musica (though it wasn't a complete failure), I have mixed but mostly negative views on God Hates Us All and Christ Illusion and World Painted Blood was okay except for that production.

Anthrax had an underdeveloped debut, but then remained solid up to Sound of White Noise, then they began going downhill (although Vol. 8 had some charm).
