Well I guess it's just imposible to say just one so called Metal's Greatest Hero. I think depending on the decade, the live shows, the stuio releases and even the style of metal each one of us likes the most it will change our option.

Still, I choose Steve Harris. As long as Iron Maiden is, at least for me, the best band ( yes of course it was still better back in the 80s but...) I think is the logical option.

Anyway I think I miss some other guys like Angus Young, some of the black metal scene, and a long list that could go on and one.

The question should have been "Who is YOUR metal hero?".

...but if you really had to pick just one person to be the undisputed greatest metal hero of all time, it would have to Tony Iommi.

I would have to agree. The man contributed a lot to Black and "avant garde" metal. So many great voices...so many great ideas...

Definitely Rob Halford. To be gay in a notoriously homophobic music scene, and be a member of one that music scene's most iconic and influential bands deserves huge kudos.

Chuck Schuldiner is a close second.

If Motorhead could be classed as metal, then Lemmy is surely one of it's greatest heroes!

OK, I've just read the article, so did Anselmo actually "do to Dimebag?" He was saying a lot of crap about him, but that's kinda like the Megadeth-Metallica situation. Other than that, I see nothing wrong with Anselmo. The only thing I can say is that he had one of the most powerful and original voices in the history of metal. That's it.

It was hard to choose because there is meny great people who had a lot of influence on fans and younger bands but for me it's Dimebag ,amazing guitarist and guy,respect for him!

He meant Dimebag.And to me it was very lame.Anselmo lost his mind completely.But i agree with you that Anselmo was a great vocalist.I think next to Halford as far as those hypersonic screaming is concerned.
