"Nu Post-Progressive Extreme Depressive Thrashcore," pioneered by such great bands as "The Chicken Dies At The End" and "A Piece Of Toilet Paper Went Up My Ass."
are you a little bitter (hehe) about being banned from the SB?
anyways, I can't decide between american death or thrash metal. I think I am leaning towards thrash, but i will hold off my vote for awhile.
It's a legitimate genre, man. And I'm a big fan.
Hahaha
Good one!
Thanks, bor.

The more experimental and avant-garde "scene" is pretty sweet here in the states. :3

Although the thrash scene was so immense, I think it's slightly overrated and gets boring quickly. I'll vote for the death scene.

I'm not a big fan of US black, but it's strange that it's not included in the poll. It's the pretty much the latest big thing as far as I can see, and one of the most active growing scenes. WitTR and Absu are only some of the biggest names.

Emo kids are too busy worrying about their self-perpetuating unstable relationships and showering in black hair dye no. 1 to worry about anything other than being lame as butt. Then again... maybe the complexities of progressive rock music could serve as a metaphor for their deep and hard-to-understand personalities. You know. I think I've just defined the most terrible thing to taint music since the conception of Creed. D:

Well, him and Guib had a disagreement over the use of the word scene, instead of movement.

Like almost everyone in this thread is using the word scene in the wrong.
The US thrash movement f.e. consisted of several scenes i.e. the Bay Area scene, the East Coast scene and the Arizona scene.

99 times out of 100 "America" will refer to America, The USA.
Anything larger would be "North American", "South America" or "The Americas" if it were to include the other countries in the continent(s).

To be honest, in modern times scenes and movements are pretty interchangeable. Bands get signed on same niche labels regardless of location, tour together, make split records etc. As far as I can see, a scene is defined by its internal communication and connections. In a day when the internet is the primary place of making connections and spreading popularity, scenes based on home city seem a little outdated.

Thrash! Most of the thrash metal I listen comes from the good ol' U, S and A and the majority of everything else is European.

Heavy metal is the 666th element in the periodic table of mixology.
Heavy metal is the heaviest of the metals, even heavier than rock.
Here are the isotopes: Iron Maidenium - Panterium - King Diamondium - Hendrixium -
Megadethium - Sabbathium

US death metal is the best for me, especially the Tampa scene (Deicide, Morbid Angel, Death, Massacre etc.)

Wow, I don't really like any American scene :/
But my vote will go to thrash and the big four, or the Tampa death scene.

Pretty much a tie for me between black, death, and thrash.
Sludge and doom and the likes would come after, and the rest of the stuff doesn't really interest me.

I say death metal all the way! American DM(and melodeath) has taken the genre to new violent directions that were unheard of in europe before( Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Death, Deicide, Cryptopsy, in melodeth - TBDM and their copycats).
