Never been to a concert, since I'm 14 and never had anyone I could go with.
Since times have changed since last year, I do plan on going to this grindcore and death metal bar close to the Bulgarian seashore this summer, but we'll see how that turns out.
Apparently Corpse, the first Bulgarian grind band, play frequently there.

I go only for the music. Don't get me wrong, I like to drink but I dont want to get drunk at a show. I don't feel comfortable doing that. I don't mosh...in fact all I really do is move my head a little bit lol and than clap and maybe cheer once the song is done.
That's me if you replace "move my head a little bit" with "headbang a lot"
Even if I weighed more than 110 pounds, I probably would still hate moshing just because I don't like having that much physical contact with all those random sweaty strangers. I don't drink at shows either since I want to be sober to remember the show as well as possible after it's done, and in case I have to defend myself from moshers or anyone else who bothers me. And I'd sooner spend my money on merch than booze anyways.
Haha cool! Yeah moshing isn't my thing no matter how big or small I am. I've been close to a moshpit before and if someone came too close, I'd just push them back in the pit lol. And agreed, I'd rather have the merch at a show than booze. I'll go to the bars and what not for booze.

Last concert I saw was warp tour '07...just for Coheed and Cambria and Bad REligion. Saw Killswitch and some other okay to meh bands.
I just want to watch the band perform, scream and cheer, amybe sing along, stuff like that. Not so much crowd surf or mosh or get piss ass drunk.
Seemed like at the time I was one of the few who desired that. I just want to watch the damn show >_< that so much to ask for?

Now by reading posts on this thread I found out one of the reasons I like MS is that here I feel I am not the only misanthropic person in the world.
dont get fooled ,not all people here are misanthropic desolators ... however im just the notable exception

what do you mean by don't get fooled sorry I didn't get the point, yeah for sure there are some who loves taking part in concerts and being surrounded by many metal fellows, but reading comments I found out many have the same feeling as mine not being into a social mood, it feels good being around those who are not very social when you yourself are in the same mood

Never been to one. Don't like crowds and I often don't find live music as good as the recorded version (depends on the band, though). I have been to the theatre once, though.

Everyone's a misanthrope nowadays. Big deal. The internet has rewired our brains so much and disconnected us from reality. Anyone who surfs the internet for a prolonged period of time will become a depressed misanthropic zombie. That's how the internet works.

I do not think that word means what you think it means.
That's how it's predominantly used in contemporary fashion. Not that it's an argument, but still.
After doing a two-minute Google search, I shall throw out two terms I randomly found: dysgraphia and aphasia. Let's see how far that goes.

I love how you said "in contemporary fashion" when you actually meant "by people who spend too much time on the internet". A stroke of genius.

actually I think It's not just related to internet though I agree we are most losing our sense of reality, but in some cases It's intentional I mean some choose to live in isolation some forced to do that. I refer to the intentional misanthropy

Whats up with you guys and misanthropy -_- after the hardcore kids movement we now have the ''people-hater'' movement, yay that is certainly gonna
help everyone No but really, stick your nose out some time... look around without winking a few times, take a deep breath and please realize you're not alone.
You'll see, you'll feel better...
tsss.. Misanthropy.. gosh the shits you hear in a lifetime.
think I'll start hating on my whole family, as far as this shit goes... dang it

Misanthropy is for losers and emos.
The real way to get affected by the internet is to be completely desensitized. For example, I go into giggiling fits whenever someone talks about suicide. I have no idea why, but I'm pretty sure the horrors of the internet have something to do with it.

Happy to say I broke my concert virginity a couple nights ago. Well, it wasn't a concert, but a really small show.
A co-worker plays bass in a local sludge/hardcore band and they were playing at a downtown pub, so the girlfriend and her friend joined me in the basement where about a dozen other people came to listen. It was a really fun show - and loud as shit. The vocalist had a great sense of humor, the drummer inverted one of his cymbals, and their guitarist's string snapped and peeled off a ton of his flesh but they still kept playing.
The guitar looked like this at the end of it...
Still wouldn't go to a festival or legitimate concert, but I'm seriously considering going to more of these smaller shows.

For all the people saying they've got no interest in going to gigs, I think you're seriously missing out! Live gigs in general are an incredible experience, but metal shows in particular are pretty unique in how cool (usually) everyone is to each other. Plus if it's a small enough show you have a pretty decent chance of being able to meet some band members. I've stood beside Nemtheanga from Primordial at an Amon Amarth gig, bought a Fleshgod Apocalypse t-shirt off the band's bassist at the merch table, and gotten a picture with Piotr from Vader.

I've never met an artist at a show really but when I was in line to see Kamelot, I did see the drummer walk by and everyone in line cheered. And I saw some of the Woods of Ypres and Blackguard members walking around at the Moonsorrow show I went to. But I guess I just don't care to be standing in lines and standing in a packed venue with a bunch of people who are mostly taller than me (I'm relatively short...not the shortest of course but short enough).

I wouldn't go to a concert, show or festival. It doesn't really suit me, and I do think that the moshing is not something fun. It also crushes the kvltness.

Never been since I have problems with crowds. It's not like a legitimate agoraphobic fear type thing or whatever, but large crowds (more than 10 people) just make me anxious. I've always wanted to go to one but I'd have to go with someone I know, and someone experienced, so that I don't feel isolated or uncomfortable.
I've got something like that. Not as extreme as your case, but I think that all people are "watching" me. Paranoiac.
I'm visiting a psychiatrist soon to solve this.

That is true, except I'm usually too shy to talk to band members. My social skills only extend as far as being able to talk to random people around my age who also look like they also showed up alone lol
When I went to see Negura Bunget (at a smaller venue), I arrived early and saw the whole band walk right by me. I wasn't quite sure what to do and the other early arrivers didn't react, so I just stared at them with admiration lol Some of them made eye contact with me and I was pretty much face to face with their vocalist when they were on stage, so I guess that counts for something
Even at the bigger venues, you'll probably get a chance to meet band members if you arrive early enough.

True, but if you're small you get the perk of being super easy to crowd surf I love just lifting my friends overhead at a show and chucking em hehe

Confidence is something you can easily build on by just trying to do a bit more each time. As long as they aren't totally up their own asses, most band members would be more than receptive to you if you just went up and said something like "hey I really love your music, can't wait for the show tonight" etc. I understand where you're coming from, I used to be petrified of talking to strangers, but if you step outside your shell you'll find that you'll enjoy yourself more. In my opinion anyway
