Posted for a friend, doing a survey on the Israeli scene, and one of the chapters of this survey is "The world's attitude to Israeli Metal Music". There are some really good bands listed, i.e. the well known Salem, Betzefer, Distorted, Orphaned Land, WhoreCore and more.
Most of them are singed in big labels like "Roadrunner" and "Season of Mist".

Its pretty simple, listen to samples from the listed bands and post your opinions. And if you already have thoughts on the Israeli scene, feel free to post them as well..

Salem:
The first Israeli metal band founded in 1985. Playing blackend doom death with a little oriental touches. In touch with the legend Mayhem and played with Attila and participated in a live act with Salem with a string accompaniement in 2005 with a very respected quartet. In 2007 they came out with the album "Necessary Evil" and change theyr gener to more modern death metal like Meshuggah.

I only know Orphaned Land of the bands mentioned and don't like them much. They are a little boring IMO and that's unfortunately also the case with their live show (saw them this weekend and the totally killed the energy of the crowd).
When I have time to check out the other bands you've mentioned I'll return with an opinion on them as well

I read in MA about Melechesh it means "King of Fire" in Hebrew.

As Jerusalem Burns... Al'Intisar's lyrics are not available and will not be. That's also their only pure black metal album.

Problems between Melechesh and the strictly religious people in Jerusalem forced the band to relocate with members going to The Netherlands where they could continue work without the hassle from religious authorities. Since the drummer could not move they found a replacement with Proscriptor from Absu.

Drummer Xul's name derives from the Sumerian (ie Mesopotamian) word for 'evil', which coincidentally is also the Latin word for 'light', lux, reversed.

Melechesh participated in the "Celtic Frost Tribute - Order of the Tyrants", released by Black Lotus Records in 2003, covering the song "Babylon Fell".

is it truth about those religius ppl thay thay hunt and figt agants metal bands like article sad

Hey! I didn't see your post about Melechesh here before, but in short, the members of Melechesh ( yes, it means 'king fire' in hebrew ) were pressured by the authorities to stop because the orthodox jewish community and christian community saw the group as a threat to 'religious stability' in Jerusalem. Hence is the reason they moved to the Netherlands to record and continue their group. Anyways, there is no evidence by anyone to actually prove that Melechesh did these acts of desecration.

Am bit surprised by peoples replies regarding Israeli doom bands, you almost never hear of these guys these days, its a bitter shame though.

Anyways, I also recommend Bishop Of Hexen and Azazel to people who might be interested in non-shitty Black Metal from Israel.
