Kirk's biggest problem IMO is that he can't keep his foot of those horrible wah-wah pedals.

Can you give any song examples 'cause you know what, that's interesting to know.

He uses that wah-wah pedal in almost every single song. I know it is personal, but if there is one effect for the guitar I can't stand it is the wah-wah pedal.

well imo it's not that hard, i've never used a wah pedal but the only thing you have to do is rock your foot back and forth..

i have never used a wah-wah pedal either, but if that's all it takes then it shouldn't be that hard. I mean if you can play a riff very well, then it mustn't be too hard to wah-wah it.

well really wah-wah on riffs sounds kind of weird, especially with metallica's fast stuff(Wherever i May Roam is a different story though)

solo's generally sound good with a little wah-wah, but that's just a matter of taste.

i dont think its too easy when u r palyin a fast solo! cause u have to push or pull it at the actul time. and its not as easy as Gas Pedal when u ride!!! who said its so easy. and other effects doesnt need another part of body, but when u use wah-wah u have to think and control ur leg's force man. its not as easy as u said.

No he doesn't. I listened to two different recordings of the song, and both time Petrucci plays the solo.

News flash: no two guitarists will ever play anything the same. It is impossible to do. Even if I were to play "Master of Puppets" note for note in perfect time with the same guitar and amp Kirk used to record the original version, it will still sound different.

On the flip side, I would love to see Kirk Hammet try and play "Under A Glass Moon".

but those who r in for example "Rolling Stone Magazine", know better than u ? this is so selfish Hamird, isnt it? (that u think they r crap!)
me myself, i love Yngwie J. Malmsteen and in my own Opinion he is the fastest and the most Technical guitarist ever. but i cant say that cause i think like this so those who chose those lists r just little Idiots, can i ? no i cant i respect those lists even i dont like x or y !!
but the important thing for us is kirk and dave(not satriani), there is a far distance at all those lists btw kirk and dave!! so i dont think if we like to compare just this 2 guitarists, those lists would be crap.

i know that many people hate Metallica, and so probably because of this many voted for Dave, but in the original post i asked people not to extend this poll to the Metallica vs Megadeth battle, and just vote as far as the solos... so what can I do? ok you can open that poll wherever you want, but still i'm pretty sure Dave will be always above Kirk... we'll see some day

but u have to choose, cause this is ur thread.(for example i choosed Jason at my thread about: Jason vs Cliff, but it was so hard for me that ive choosed Jason, but i voted by mind not by heart )
and if u want to know who is better take a lookat metallica's and megadeth's very first album: "Kill 'Em All" and "Killing Is My Business" thats where u will know that how kirk played Mustain's solo's better than himself!! cause Kill 'Em All's solo's have written by mustain (at least some parts of them). but when u look at megadeth's first album its ... i cant say how cheap is it!

if we want to vote we have just 2 ways, we have to choose cause of Techniques and Speed or choose cause of Heart and hearing. yes im agree that someone loves Dave. and someone loves Kirk. but i think if we want to choose cause of Skills Kirk is better. and if i was a Megadeth fand i would choose kirk. but yes maybe some of Megadeth's solo's r gettin to heart, but not metallica's. cause metallca's solo's r a little cold and hard(if its the right thing to say, and sometimes not always).
and i said that u can listen to megadeth's first album, cuase a lot of ppl say that "Kill 'Em All's" and even "Master Of Puppets's" solo's almost has written by Dave. so why Dave didn wrote such solo's for his personal band? ( i know that we r not talkin about songwrtting here but its just a question)
