^^^ yeh suffocation is pretty high on my wanted list... but its very hard to go past wintersun, the hype surrounding this release is huge, and hopefully they can deliver!
It would be funny if the new Wintersun just turns out to be not so good lol. Same for Necrophagist, it seems both these bands are missing some inpiration because it's taking so fucking looong.
Why is the hype so immense concerning Wintersun? I really don't understand. Their debut was average at best anyway. As for the new Necrophagist... I think for all you people looking out for that one it would be better to pick up Obscura - Cosmogenesis which will be released on March 2nd. Obscura has Jeroen Paul Thesseling on bass (he played bass for Pestilence on Spheres) and will also feature former Necrophagist members Hannes Grossmann and Christian Muenzner. Listening session for the new album will be on December 28th at 013 in Tilburg, The Netherlands, and be sure I will write a report on it.
here's a link to their Myspace site for some samples:

I also don't understand the hype around Wintersun, but I doubt the Obscura album will be better than Necrophagist. The new song they just posted is boring even for tech death.

Slayer, Dream Theater (apparently there will be a new DT album in 2009 ) and Riverside.
And I'm curious about Maiden's new album as well.
I'm sure we'll have good releases.

Hopefully that one will be better than the last two very very mediocre albums.

I hope it will be better than Systematic Chaos, that's for sure. As for Octavarium, I think it is a good album.

Because they've said so... I saw them last saturday in Germany and they announced a new album for 2009. The new singer by the way is very good!

Good news that is. I couldn't find a thing about them recording on their official site. So I assumed it was just wishful thinking by some people here. How were Artillery at KIT and what was the setlist?

Looking forward to the Mastodon release in (hopefully) March 2009. In an Interview on Blabbermouth they announced, that 'Crack the Skye' will rather evolve a rock-sound, epic, broad, dark, melodic and creepy though. I'm courious like a little lemming on the way to the sea...
I expect something quite experimental, and still consider it a creepy Mastodon-joke, that they speak about rock-sound.

I'm not a Wintersun fan neither, i was just saying it would be funny if all the hype ends up being for something very average. Their debut was nice, but nothing all that great by any means, except for some of the solos.

In no particular order:
- Kreator: I definetely think Ordes of Chaos its going to be an awesome albums just as Enemy of God was
- Morbid Angel: its been too long since we dont listen to some new material
- Suffocation: there are a lot of new bands that play like them, but they're the godfathers of the brutal death metal scene, so their new stuff has to be something good to prove all of them who they are
- Vader: I really think their new line-up its a strong one and their new album its going to be something similar to Revelations, which its great

Out of those... Iron Maiden. Didn't know they're having a new album in 2009 but the album I'm really lookin' foward to is Lamb of God's album Wrath. I hear Slayer and Megadeth are going to have albums out next year too. Does anyone know if this is true?

I already replied with the upcoming Secrets of the Moon album, but now I'm also looking forward to hearing the new Morbid Angel! I don't think it will have that old and dark sound any more though. Not like the sound on Blessed are the Sick.
Apparently, the new Shining is coming out next year as well? What happened to December?

Hi,
I had to click in other, though I will get and...like almost every album in the list proposed. However, I am more curious and anxious about getting -and quite soon- the last works of Eluveitie and Orphaned Land, since their last albums have been amazing. I am also waiting for the Black Sabbath reunion under "Heaven and Hell" name and hoping that it will be good. Disarmonia Mundi and Anubis Gate are also releasing new albums that I am itching to get.
From the list I would pick up Iron Maiden, then Agalloch, then Candlemass, then Wintersun and last Atheist, but I am more eager for listening the other albums I mentioned above.
But, if I really have to choose just one band...I will say Eluveitie, because they are releasing two albums this year.
Well, bye metalstormers.

Kreator for me, I just love that band. Mille is definately one of my metal idols and Enemy Of God was suprisingly vicious so I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with. Iron Maiden on the other hand should just quit because the last album was a total embarassment.

I'm curious to see what Rammstein will release. That's a truth that Rammstein never let me down, and even in their worst album (for me Reise, Reise) I found some interesting music.. So they come at the first place for me..
