first concert i ever went to was in 89 or 90, and had Social Distortion and They Might Be Giants as the headliners. it was an awesome time. caught Suicidal Tendencies with Janes Addiction in '91. Members of S.T. after the show went to some of the local bars, even met Rocky George at Sluggo's, the little hole in the wall I used to hang out at. SLAYER (w/ Machine Head and Biohazard) was probably the first 'metal' show I went to - I caught them in town on the tune-up gig for the Divine Intervention tour. Saw them a couple more times on that tour, including the show at the Mesa Amphitheater that was the gig in the "Live Intrusion" video. I'm actually on screen for a split second. Weeee. I'm famous. It also could have been either Pantera with Sepultura and Prong on the "Far Beyond Driven" tour or Carcass w/ Life of Agony on the "Heartwork" tour... I forgot in which order they happened. I probably drank enough to get all of metalstorm drunk at those shows... Good times.

It wasn't a concert in my case, I had the chance to attend Wacken 2006 with all its great metal bands, I was blown away by every single piece of the largest metal festival in the world. Fortunately, I'll be there again this summer.

Mine was seeing Tragically Hip in 1997 I mustve been about 7 years old. There was some really lame pop rock band opening. I wish it wasnt the first concert I saw because it was so boring it left a bad taste in my mouth and I didnt want to go to any concerts after that, until 2005 when I saw The Doors of the 21st century that got me into concerts. Since then Ive tried to attend every show from a band that im interested in in the slightest.

I don't think I have shared my first proper metal show experience in here yet.. it was back in 2003 and obviously my tastes then were not as they are now out of ignorance.. but I got to see Chimaira, Ill Niño and Spineshank in Cardiff, Wales I was really into them bands then - and have always had some kind of interest in Chimaira because of that.. Ill Niño I just forgot about, as I did with Spineshank until last time I went home I brought back their best two albums with me and ripped them on here and I found myself relishing them again.. mostly out of nostalgia but is is also quite good for other reasons I think.. shame Spineshank split up really.. I saw one of their last ever shows as my first ever show hahaha - I learnt a lot from that show - mainly - KEEP HYDRATED!!! hahahaha - I was bouncing up and down and shouting along to every word I got so dehydrated I nearly passed out - as soon as water hit my mouth I was alive and straight back out there!! and so I am really looking forward to seeing Chimaira at Hellfest all these years later - it will be so weird

Iron Maiden, In Flames and Mastodon 09/07-05. 60 000 in the audience. I travelled across Sweden, from the east- to the west coast. The concert was shown live on TV and could be heard in swedish radio. Mastodon opened up and I'd heard some songs before, they weren't that exciting though. In Flames thereafter and I was a fresh fan of them. Had just heard some songs and only recognized... Only for the Weak but that one made the whole stadium jump! Seriously awesome! Fridén apparently had diarrhoea before the show (hahaha) but did a good job. Then Iron Maiden came and gave a great show. I stood there, 15 years old, and knew every solo, riff and all the lyrics to the songs they played. And I got so mad seeing guys in all ages standing there and not recognizing a single song! Some even shouted "Fear of the Dark"... fucking mainstream fans... I hate them!!! Buy some albums instead of listening to the radio!

The first concert I've ever seen is PINK FLOYD in 1994, on the Place des Quinconces in Bordeaux. I went there with my mother, brother and grandmother lol. That was amazing. It was an open air concert right in the city centre, with 90,000 people attending. The setlist, the antics, the whole night was absolutely mindblowing. This will forever be the best show I've seen. If you want an idea of what it was like, just check the Pulse cd or DVD, that's the same one I saw Now, if we talk about metal shows, I think the first concert I've seen was Suicidal Tendencies and Kickback in Toulouse somewhere around 1998. Pretty good ST show (though Rocky George and Robert Trujillo weren't in the band anymore) but I remember I was disappointed they didn't play any of their amazing ballads - I dream of seeing How Will I Laugh... live. The quietest song was Alone, and it's not exactly a ballad ^^ For the anecdote, I didn't have a driving license back then and the friend who was supposed to come with me decided not to go at the last minute, so I had to buy a ticket for my father, because he wouldn't take me there (120kms away from home) otherwise. So I saw Suicidal Tendencies with my father

If were talking metal concerts then my first was Opeth with Devildriver and Dark Tranquility opening. Killer show from every band, I was just disapointed that Opeth didnt play 'The Moor' seeing as it is in my top favorite 5 songs of all time and is one of the 2 songs that got me into death growling. other than that, killer show.

My first concert probably was some unknown regional band, Tyrant Eyes or Lanzer perhaps, I don't quite remember. I do remember having seen Corvus Corax though long before they got big. Anyway, the first concert of a well-known act was Bon Jovi in 2000. I was in love with a girl back then who also got into Bon Jovi in those days and I had the feeling that my chances were great. What better way to announce my love to her than by giving her two tickets for Bon Jovi on her birthday? Well, the night of the concert I got to know that she actually was in love with my best friend... that did change three months later though and what shall I say, in a few weeks we have our seventh anniversary Let's finish boring story #1 and get to boring story #2. My first metal concert (with an international act) was Sonata Arctica in 2004. I was a huge fan of theirs back then, so I was more than happy that they decided to give a concert in Frankfurt while Nightwish took a day off of their joint tour. A problem was though that on that particular day my mom had her 60th birthday - fortunately it was also the first day of university, so I bended the truth a bit and told her that I'd be going for a drink with my new fellow students and that she knew how important socializing is and the earlier the better and stuff, so she let me go. Awesome concert it was, I just didn't quite seem to fit in there: having forgotten that I'd go to a metal show that night I went out of the house wearing a shirt of my favorite punk band which resulted in some awry looks that night. At the concert I also had the feeling that barely anyone was banging as much as I was, but those who did looked good while doing so - I haven't cut my hair ever since.

My first one was The Black Crusade 2007 in Melbourne. Was amazing, had Arch Enemy, Trivium and Machine Head..Was a shame that Arch Enemy only played for 45 minutes because they were brutal as fuck. I was not looking forward to Trivium that much and would have prefered that Arch Enemy and Machine Head played longer instead...How ever Trivium played fucking amazing!! They have an awsome energy on stage and are so much heavier than their recordings! Machine Head were also amazing and drunk as usual lol..they dressed up in halloween costumes for the occasion since it was October 31st, and every one was just going nuts when they opened Clenching the Fists of Dissent, they did something to the sound of Rob's voice so he had a death metal growl when his voice reached a certain level of decibels..Wicked concert, is going to be very hard to top.

In October 2004 I think. I went to Epica with Trinity as a support act. At the time this band blew me completely away. The support act was somewhat less windy . Simone was nice to look at of course and the atmosphere was very cozy in a small concert hall. All in all a good first experience of a metal concert. And I bought a sweater, yay!
