Nina Hagen was so wild. Nina has metal 'pipes'. Outragous stage act. Doro sounds like she should be singing Abba covers. Her vocals are too 'careful' for metal. She turned a Zepplin tune into elevator music lol.

Doro, Liv Kristine, Tarja and angela Gossow are very influencial IMO The other ones are kinda overrated IMO... I don't like so much the female vocals in metal.. ecept for the ones I said before of course...

Im sorry but I dont see how Tarja or Liz Buckingham are all that influential? Lets put a bit of thought behind our responses for once... Its a tie between Tony Iommi's mother and Doro.

My vote's for Marta Gabriel(Leather Wych) of Crystal Viper, amazing polish heavy metal... Doesn't seem like this band has been discussed much on here.. GET TO IT IMO you won't be disappointed.

24.10.2008 - 06:20 Written by gocasaca on 24.10.2008 at 01:57 Yeah, I think you're right. Besides Doro, Angela and Tarja are the most influential metal women. There's a lot of new female vocalists nowadays who are influenced by Tarja, and even some of the most known vocalists are.. like Simone Simons for example.

Ronnie James Dio's grandmother seriously, Dio pioneered the classic metal hand gesture (Devil Horns) that EVERY metalhead uses today. It was his grandmother that did that to him while giving him the evil eye when he was a child. and that's were he got it.

I think that one of the most influential female vocalists in metal of the 90's is, of course, Tarja Turunen...thanks to her and Nightwish the image of a female fronted bands rose to fame....That's true, as someone already mentioned, that other female vocalists took Tarja as a role model, including Simone Simmons and Nicole Bogner.... Another one that stands for me as a grand figure, is Anneke van Giersbergen...she knows how to add variations to her voice and sing in most interesting and spellbinding ways possible....Anneke has a voice that combines the qualities of Cristina Scabbia (sang with Anneke as a guest tour vocalist in The Gathering), Lotta Höglin and Norah Jones....she is able to cover styles from rock to jazz to gothic and doom....simply ideal I think.... And well...Angela...the most famous of them all who sings extreme vocals and does it well....
