Dio - Dio Has Passed Away
What started as a rumour on twitter and various websites has now actually happened. Earlier in the day/night it was denied by Wendy Dio, stating that Ronnie James Dio was "still hanging in there", but a few moments ago the official Ronnie James Dio website posted the following statement:
"Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45 a.m. [on Sunday] 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private goodbyes before he peacefully passed away."
The news is spreading as wildfire, the official Dio website might be down due to too much traffic.
Our condolences go out to the family, friends and fans of Ronnie James Dio. Rest in peace.

When I heard that Ronnie James Dio passed away,I wanted that was one of idiot rumours but it was not.. ..Im so sad cause he was one of best voices and lyrics writers of metal music and he was such strong man,strong vioce who has big heart in small body...R.I.P. DIO!! your music ,lyrics and vioce will live forever with us!!...

Sad. But things like that will happen more and more, I think. Lots of metal artists who have been very popular in the 80s are getting old and, in most cases, their lifestyle is not the best to remain in good shape. I was sure he would die before the end of the year but it's still a sad event. My condolences.

Oh holy shit! I mean, I somehow expected this to happen, the cancer he had is one of the most aggressive types, but I had a tiny hope that he could make his way through this one... I was listening to "Eating The Cannibals" a couple of hours ago while I was taking a bath, and I thought that it could be great to see him singing alive with Heaven And Hell, now, oh well, damn!
