Good point! I actually agree... There's plenty of dudes who tend to be like this: band t-shirt/hoodie, often not washed for a long time, hair... often messy and often not washed for a long time... plus add some piercings every now and then and... of course... beer gut! or vice versa... too skinny... or the horrible combination of being obese but with skinny arms and legs : )

Exactly! but it's not so important when they are nice guys tbh. However, a certain degree of cleanliness is important, some dudes look as if they have never seen a shower from the inside o.O
as long as they're clean and wear clothes that are washed every once in a while - fine lol
there should be a certain effort in personal hygiene, I would say

Well... can't say... It all depends on the girl and the personality... Tro0, kvlt, hardcore etc kind of girls, for example... I'll really rather have a nice ordinary girl than a "metal" girl who's too "masculine"... I've known girls who like to be "br0otal"... it's not very nice...

Well, I really like the style of many metal girls, although I have to admit that most of the metal girls have too many tattoos or piercings for me (there are just a few were I think it looks good). Oh, and I also like girls that don't look "metal"

uhm... depends I guess. If it's too excessive then maybe not. Then again, excessive is quite subjective, so for me it's probably too many piercings

Maybe a year ago when I had shoulder length hair people might associate me with metal, but I've had hair cuts since then

That being said, I do not personally know any metal chicks...

Here's my experience:
Of all the girls I've gone out with, only one could really be considered "fat", and she was the only one that really liked metal. While I may not have been attracted to her as much visually, the sex was the best I've ever had and she was by far the most intelligent and interesting to talk to.

I do prefer skinnier girls, but to me weight is only one of many factors that effect weather or not I'm attracted to someone.

speaking of attire or dressing, when I see people wearing band T-shirts, they are usually rather mainstream or well known (e.g. COB, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Cannibal Corpse etc). I immediately get the feeling that they do not explore other bands outside of that genre or even other bands within the genre. Am I the only one to feel this way?

hm, not necessarily, it's damn tough to find bandshirts of lesser known bands, that are affordable if you consider shipping and everything.
Plus, Underground bands often do not have a sufficient range of sizes. Whereas you can get everything with Metallica on it.

fit metal chicks don't often dress metal styled because normally they get the attention they desire already from non-metal fan and metal fans alike
those with a more robust body figure do not get enough attention that they desire and hence dress more metal as a self proclamation and may attract more attention from male metal fans

Imagine... you go to a HIM gig... what will you see... lots of metal/goth/alternative girls... what's the saddening thing? Unfortunately many of them are obese or just freaky... the problem in general is that there are many young girls who listen to metal/goth/alternative music and end up thinking that certain clothes and style will make them attractive while it does not... (once again... fat goth chicks wearing striped tight pants and having piercings... aaaaaaaaaaa)
Or then again... girls (not certainly obese) but also... too much piercings, too freaky clothes etc... these often end up as looking like too masculine...

All in all... I think most men will agree that we'll be a lot more glad to have a beautiful, slim, hot and decent "ordinary-looking" girl than a hairy, pierced, pink-blue-red-white-haired, yellow-cat-eyed, leather-clad heavy-momma... who might either look masculine or obese... and sometimes... when the girl is beautiful... being "metal" starts suffocating it eventually...

Speaking of obesity... yes it's a health issue... Saying "I am obese, I'm myself, that's how I was born, I love it like that, I am beautiful..." is wrong (unfortunately it's one of those things that is being taught too often to people instead of making them do something...)
One should go and take care of one's body... you only have one body after all...
And as one might know... the appearance usually goes with the spirituality of the person...

However I would prefer a nice metal guy, with whom I share my hobbies and can relate to, than an "usual goodlooking guy".
maybe that's the motivation behind the initial question of this topic. It's not all about looks, my friends.

Anyway, I don't think they are related in a statistical way. But I'd happily be proven wrong

I think there is a certain stereotype that male metalheads perpetuate concerning hygeine, but if they spend most of their time practicing or being around other guys who also don't care much for their appearance because they're so focused on their hobbies, then you can't really blame them a whole lot - though I know it wouldn't take much to make an improvement.

I myself am very particular and appeaciate the styles and fashions that come out of some of these genres, but I don't implement them personally, mainly because I don't really need to. I doubt someone would guess what I listen to if they judged me by appearance alone, which could be said for some of the other members here, too, so at least there are people who don't define/refine the public perceptions.

Quite right. If an attractive female went to and enjoyed a metal show, it wouldn't really matter what she was wearing provided her interest was genuine. Guys aren't picky like that, so that may also be a reason for why some don't dress to the nines and show off their passion like some others do.

Anyway, I know alot of metalheads with really fat girlfriends, like obese. I dont know what it is or how they get sucked into that trap, but it's a pretty common phenomenon down here.

I personally don't like to date fat girls nor anorectic. I like girls that take care of themselves.

Ok so I just read my former post, in which I seemed a bit harsh and feel kinda bad about it lol I think it has a lot to do with, what some of you have said, about the culture or social standing within specific countries as well. It apprears that in the US especially there is quite a big imbalance in body types due to the combination of peer pressure (that forces some girls to become skinnier and skinnier) and advertising/fast food outlets/safety (leading to lack of exercise and obesity).

Over here the link between metal and overweight girls is sort of a line in the sand....as the problem is spread out quite evenly to all corners of society and Ive never met any really really skinny girls or really fat metal girls. The pressure from the media to be super thin doesnt really exist here and we're mostly encouragement to live healthy.

So yeah I dont know, our surroundings influence our opinions and everyone will have a different stance on this. I for one have never been attracted to really thin girls....Im all for curves as it's more sexual and more feminine - as opposed to the really skinny girls who at some point lose all their appeal as they often have boyish bodies.

Ok I wasnt trying to take a hit at skinny girls lol The point Im trying to make is that I have always been much more inclined to fall for girls who's bodies do not necessarily have the "media stamp of approval" but have always been much more seduced by slightly chubby girls. I mean Im pretty skinny and have bones in weird places, why would I want to have a girlfriend who is as un-huggable as me? lol

Fat girls in my eyes are in a vast minority, i base that on what i see walking around at the Wacken festival.
Obviously the definition of fat would be arguble. When i think of fat, i think of someone with a serious weight problem in the manner that it affects your health. I personally prefer a woman with a few extra pound then one that allows me to count ribs, i however do not have a thing for fat people. Nor against, by the way.
