As I sit here and listen to most likely the greatest band of all time I notice that there isn't a topic for them, so I decided to make one. Manowar are a band that you must love, and if you don't, you're gay. Haha, seriously though. They make some wicked music, though pompous, they deserve to be, I mean, they are the KINGS OF METAL. I do enjoy their upbeat attitude, killer riffing, and Eric Adams god like vocals. Very manly. I would call them Heavy Metal (or moreover, Traditional Metal) than anything, but they do have some Speed and Power Metal tendencies every now and then. Any fans?

And remember kids, while other bands play - Manowar kill.

They have the real, pure heavy metal sound,a great vocalist,a great guitarist, awesome bassist and drummer but someone really should advise them to write different lyrics.

Look who's talkin now! You are only 15, but you are from England! You could have seen Pink Floyd live two years before.. You have many times the opportunity to see Iron Maiden, Anathema and so many other acts... And you are complaining! FFS! What should I say? See... I am from Greece! So stop somplaining cause you will understand how lucky you are in a few years from now.. Hope you will never need to travel to another country to see live your favourite band.. And if Manowar didnt come to UK this year, they are coming next year!

F*ck that! that what makes them Manowar. Its all about fighting for true metal....dying for true metal.....and everything metal. The new song/video posted on youtube is awesome, its called 'Die For Metal' (never wouldve seen that coming)

But my point is if Manowar did follow everyones demands at changing there lyrics, wed all turn out saying "What happened to Manowar?". It wouldnt be Manowar anymore.

Manowar are the kings, there's no disputing that. Last night, before seeing Arcturus, one of the last songs played over the sound system before the band came on stage was 'Battle Hymn', and my good friend Hyvaarin and I sang every word, saluting the crowd with the Sign of the Hammer. Ahhh, there's nothing quite like a good hit of True Metal, returning goodness with good!

Incidentally, the new album is hilarious, there are like 4 people whom they refer to as being "born of giants". Not to mention the ridiculous overuse of Odin's name...

Man, to all those who dislike Manowar you should read these quotes (Mostly from Joey DeMaio) that I found on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manowar:
* "It's a shame that future musicians growing up now are being influenced by trash; it's really upsetting. You are basically formed by what your influences are and if you've got losers for influences, you're going to have a hard time overcoming that." -Eric Adams in an interview conducted in 1988
* "I believe in the fans, I believe in metal more than anybody you've ever met. And you've known me a long time. I've never pissed on you even though you constantly do it to me. And I don't stab the fan in the back. And another thing, I'm prepared to die for metal. Are you?" -Joey DeMaio during a 2006 interview with the Rock Hard magazine.
* "If you're not into Metal - you are not my friend!" -Joey DeMaio
* "Each day, you wake up and get out of bed knowing that there is shit waiting for you. Each day is a struggle, a battle and you must prepare for these battles, these wars. You have to be prepared. That is where the spirit of MANOWAR comes in. It is for everybody, both men and women, who have the fighting spirit. You either fight to win or your throw up your hands and admit that you are fucked." -Joey DeMaio
* "Heavy Metal will never die!" -Joey DeMaio during the Monsters of Rock in Brazil (1998). Recorded on the DVD Fire and Blood.
* "I'm sorry, I don't listen to country music." -Joey DeMaio when asked what he thought about Metallica. One possible reason that DeMaio may have shown his dislike for Metallica was that in 1999 there was a Gods of Metal fest, and Manowar played Nessun Dorma for their Italian fans; Metallica had played the night before, and James Hetfield was not happy with the song Manowar decided to play.[verification needed]
* "This is what we do. And if you like it, good. If not, go fuck yourself." -Joey DeMaio
* "We play Metal pure, you know. We don't play radio bullshit. We don't suck ass." -Joey DeMaio
* "We just live the part of Metal, you know. We are here to rock, drink and fuck. And that's it. The power is in the music." -Joey DeMaio
* "Somebody who never compromised their music and their integrity. And never screwed their fans. Somebody who always delivered Metal, and melted people's faces at maximum power." -Joey DeMaio on how he would like to be remembered.
* "I know that a lot of people are against us. But they can get fucked and eat shit and die. Manowar are here to show everybody else that Metal will live on." -Joey DeMaio
* "We care about our bands, the quality of music and the metal fans more than anyone else!" -Joey DeMaio in the Magic Circle Music website.
* "We have the greatest fans in the world," attests drummer Scott Columbus . "For a long time, our fans have stood by us. They've given everything to the belief that together we are the defenders of the heavy metal faith. That's why we've been able to keep playing our brand of music. That's why we haven't wimped out or bowed to commercialism. Our fans are at the core of everything we do. That's the way it's been done from the beginning."

Manowar is definetely one of the greatest Heavy Metal bands ever, and all the people calling them gays and staff can suck my d... There are not many bands that can side by side with Manowar in anything, their lyrics are not very quality but they have their special value, and they are powerfull, I mean, I don't jump in my room with a plastic sword and staff but their lyrics can really give me a reasonable doze of adrenalin. Everyone who saw Manowar alive can't have any complains on their preformance and as Joey said in that interview. they really never turned back to the fans and that is really important. Can't wait to get new album...

i have a very veryyyy strong feeling that 'Gods Of War' is going to be album of the year for me!

Have you heard it yet? Well, in case you havnt Ill tell you now, its a wierd album, the actual songs are amazing and instant classics, but the album is filled with filler overtures (orchestral songs that dont go anywhere) and spoken word tracks. But if you put those aside what your left with is pure awesome. And the liner notes are really clever, there written completely in that norse looking scripture, but each symbol or character is a letter (they have a guide/letter translation in the back) and you need to decode the entire liner notes booklet, when you start it takes like 45 minutes to get through a page, but by the end of it it almost becomes a second language, its pretty neat.

I have "The Sons Of Odin" EP and I downloaded a couple songs from the new album. I like the interludes, they really do add to the atmosphere and the themes

about the liner notes.....that sounds kind ov cool.

Manowar are really a great band and one of the most popular. Everyone must know Manowar, and about loving or hating them - that's their job. I listen to Manowar in the past more, now I haven't listen them in a while. They have great lyrics and metal anthems, but sometimes they can be boring. About their genre, someone says they are power metal, someone says they are heavy metal. I mark them as heavy metal, although they have more power metal lyrics, their music is heavy. I still haven't heard the new album though.
