I chose Kevin Talley. His work in Dying Fetus is quite amazing. He can go from insane blast beats and instantly change and play a technical beat. His best stuff is in Grotesque Impalement.

yeah man, Dave Culross was amazing in Despise the Sun. I don't know if he was Mike Smith good though lol.

That guy just completely understands how to make death metal. Like....the emphasis he puts on his blast beats and his timing is just great.

I like the drumming of most of the drummers mentioned above, so I found quite difficult to vote.

If i didnt vote for Marco (braindrill/Vornagar/Atricious Histeria) then I guess id vote pete Sandoval because he was pretty much the original detah metal drummer and fuck the shit he recorded back in the day is still pretty crazy to todays standards.

And Tim Yeung is fucking crazy but look what he grew up listening to

Pete didnt have any crazy ass death metal to listen to he was rather inventive when it came to death metal drums. =]

I would have to go with Kevin Talley on this one, because not only does he play fast, clean, and brutally (if thtat makes sense) but if you notice when he plays, his little fills all the time, to add a new aspect to a song, how he slows the double kicks down before a fill, and how he plays the drums diffrently then usually DM drummers, because instead of just overusing blasting and driving double kicks, he uses them at the right time to make the song have its ups and downs and make it more exiting, and that he makes sure that when he plays a drum beat, he dosent take anything away from the song, but always adds something.

And Inferno would be my second favorite cause he is a bit diffrent then other drummers, also cause he can be very diffrent and very skillfull when playing, but at times he can so insane when he needs to, like the opening blasts for demigod, adds the intensity to the song, but dosent blast through the whole thing, to mke the song sound better.

I voted for Inferno...he's like a spider or something. He must have more than 2 arms...he's that crazy.

Next to Inferno would be the drummer of Quo Vadis.

and also just another little bit of accreditation i would like to give..
that being to 'Dennis The Menace' - the drummer from Macabre
i dont think that band get the credit they deserve and 'Dennis The Menace' plays a big part in that..

listen to any of the Macabre albums and you hear him bashing away at them drums like a mad-man
and especially if you see them live on DVD or whatever - it is crazy to watch!

I went with Flo, in all of Cryptopsy's work his drumming is consistantly insane, Phobophile alone grants him my vote. Then again, I havent heard much of say Derek Roddy or Tony Laureano.

Does Blake Richardson (Between The Buried And Me) count as a death metal drummer? If not, Martin Lopez of Opeth will have to be my choice. He is multifaceted and basically amazing.

For me its a tie between Derek Roddy and Flo Mounier, but since im slightly more familiar with Hate Eternal than Cryptopsy, im gonna have to give it to Derek Roddy.

"Derek Roddy" is a very special Drummer, I appreciate his playing
For Sandoval, Kollias, Laureano,Yeung and the others I see that they are doing good job, but with Roddy, it sounds different and Human, he's also very polivalent, adding the fact that he's a great guy that never stop helping young drummer around the world... Derek Roddy adds Beauty to Brutality!!

All the drummers in the list are very good, but I voted other, because one of my favorite Death Metal drummers is not in the list. And that certain drummer is Vitek from Decapitated. He is a very technical and talented drummer, and he's still very young.

hehe no man, they aren't death metal. No one really knows what type of metal they play, but it certainly isn't death.

I would say (my taste) Igor Cavalera early death/thrash Sepultura on Beneath The Remains he killed that drum set. Sean Reinert of Cynic, "Focus" no words to describe that and also "Human"...yup, and Quo Vadis drummer.

Inferno! He's a beast and even more impressive live than on albums. The man is a total monster on the drums. Daray (Vader, Vesania) is just as talented too.
