China was a neat
I find Still life overrated, the songs doesn't have the strong personalities of their other records like my favourites My Arms, Your Hearse and Deliverance.
It just tries to be too technical and progressive most of the time.

I totally disagree. If it wasn't for Face of Melinda and Benighted it would be my favourite Opeth album. All the other songs are brilliant. The fact that the "soft" (mellow) songs on BWP are better than the ones on Still Life makes BWP the superior album in my opinion.

Ok. I am currently spinning all of their albums in random and really found Ghost Reveries and Deliverance outstanding, two of my favourites after their undistupedly best Blackwater Park. My Arms, Your Hearse has a great flow and very simplistic in its style and very effective. Orchid is a classic and a very strong debut with great acoustic parts. Deliverance is a brilliant one too. Even after 2-3 spins Still life isn't striking me as having any outstanding songs or parts (like the ending of Deliverance's title track, the ending of Karma from MAYH or the melodies of Ghosts of Perditions). Will keep spinning SL and MR more to find out if I finally "get" them.
