After making a poll with having only 8 possible choices I decided that it would be better to have a Beer topic. So, tell us what's your favorite beer, why it is and give us all the necessary information about it so that we can try it when we have the chance.

So, keep on the discussion about this great drink called Beer!

As for me, I've already wrote it: Erdinger (i don't know much about it's short etc) is the best. It is a beer that kneeds in your bottle and it tastes great!

La Fin du Monde is excellent, destroyed of them and DMT this weekend. Stella is great too. As far as my favourites go its Holsten, Pilsner Urquel, Duvel, Blue and Paulaner.

Well, im asking becase the strongest beer I drank was the "Lav 7", 7% alc version of our Lav beer, and its taste is horrible compared to the original. And Duvel is 8%, right?? So how does it taste compared to "normal" (around 5%) beers?
And for Hoegaarden, Ive never had a wheat beer, so I dont have a clue what is it like.

Duvel has a special bitter taste and is 8,5% alcohol. You like it or you don't, simple as that, but if you like it you can't resist and you will order it always. ( Duvel is available in every café here ) It costs from 2,50 euro to 4,00 euro for 33 cl.
Hoegaarden has also a special taste, I can't describe it. It was very popular from 15 years ago 'till 4 or 5 years ago and now it's not selling so good anymore, but a Hoegaarden in a frozen glass when the sun shines is always ok. Hoegaarden has 4.9% alcohol and is sold in 25 cl. glasses. Here you can buy it in a bar for 1,70 to 1,90 euro.
I don't have a lot of time now, but if you want detailed info about beers, feel free to ask it here.

Problem with Hoegaarden nowadays compared to 15 years ago (I guess you both are talking about Hoegaarden White and NOT Hoegaarden Grand Cru) is that first the brewer, Pierre Celis, moved to the US and started Celis White there (which is much like the old taste of Hoegaarden White than the current Hoegaarden White), but I heard rumours he's back in Belgium and starting a brewery there again. Another problem is that about 4-5 years ago they moved the actual Hoegaarden brewery to a different location (Hoegaarden had become part of InBev I think) and they just couldn't get the Hoegaarden White right. That resulted in less Hoegaarden White being moved to pubs and such (so most pubs didn't even have it on tap or bottle for more than a summer) till they finally managed to get a stable brew again. But unfrotunately the stable brew was a watered down version of the old Hoegaarden. SO most people have switched to different white beers.

Carlsberg is one of my favourites. It's a little pricey sometimes though, being an import. Actually I heard that Victoria Bitter imported into England from Australia is like their premium beer. Is that the case? haha

VB kicks the shit out of Carlsber Pilsner imo. Carlsberg Pilsner together with Heineken and Tuborg are in my opinion the most overrated pilsners/lagers in the world.

Haha well VB is quite popular in Australia (perhaps more so in Victoria than anywhere else) but it's considered by some as a "bogan" kind of beer lol. I don't mind it though and shit loads of people drink it.

Do you have various Carlsberg varieties over there? We just have the one generic one. Carlsberg, Heineken, Becks, etc are considered quite classy/premium beers over here.

Carlsberg itself has the regular Pilsner/Lager, Special Brew (not availabel everythwere in the world and around 8%), Elephant (also not available everywhere in the world and around 8%) and Foreign Stout (also not available everywhere in the world and about 7%) plus they also have a "microbrewery" called Jacobson which has loads of different beers such as porters, stouts, IPA, pale ales, and other sorts,

Have you tried La Fin De Monde (end of the world)? Its also by Unibroue and is somewhat similar to Maudite (at least in terms of alcohol...it has 9%). Ive only had La Fin De Monde once....its very good!

I don't have one favorite beer, and my favorite beers change quite often. It depends on what I'm in the mood for. So anyway, here is a list of my favorite beers by type as of right now:

Stout: Either St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout or Big Rock Espresso Stout
Brown Ale: New Castle
Dark: Warsteiner Dunkel
Pale Ale: Either Samuel Smith Pale Ale or Alexander Keith's Pale Ale
Wheat Beer: Erdinger
Lager/Pilsner: Either Moose Head or Grolsch
"Strong" Beer: La Fin Du Monde

@MetalSpider I've had La Fin De Monde...I don't like it as much. The alcohol content is just as strong, but the Maudite has a nice darker flavor. Also an excellent Belgian Beer that I forgot is the Grimbergen Dubbel.

Unibroue does make an excellent beer, but this bar by my restaurant has Maudite on tap and it's just killer. La Fin De Monde is, however, the most popular. Does everyone know Unibroue in Canada?

Am I the only one who thinks Duvel is overrated? yeah I like it but there is better from Belgium.

I'm unfortunately born in the wrong country for beer. I find all Dutch beers tasting the same, they are okay but they do me little. My favorite types of beer come from the UK and Ireland, first I discovered Guinness but some searching around in a specialized beer store has given me ton of better Beers from the region. My favorite beers of choice:

Wychwood

I love the artwork of the bottles and I'm addicted to their organic refreshing taste. They have many kinds and I loved them all so far.

Ebulum Elderberry Black Ale

I'm a big fan of black ale's. And this one is one of the best light one's.

Black Cuillin
http://www.crackedkettle.com/store/images/BlackCuillin.jpg
Brewed on Isle of Skye a small Scottish Island with lot's of pagan legends about it, the name comes from the highest mountain of the Island. It may sound strange, but it really feels like they put the "spirit" of the mountain in it. It has a very earthly and strong taste and very black.

Okell's Mac Lir beer
http://users.jyu.fi/~mweber/blog/images/Mac_Lir.jpg
brewed on Isle of man and named after the Celtic sea god. Really great Wheat beer.

Other British beers I love:
Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout
Owd Roger
Black Sheep

Despite I know some microbreweries, I'm a total beer noob. I know barely of the different beer styles and ingredients. I'm still looking for recommendations, so if someone wants to give one. Remember my favorite "beer style" is UK & Irish black ale/beer and some Wheat beer I like as well. Besides UK and Irish beer I also like Czech and Belgium beers a lot.

A great Dutch stout is Duits & Lauret Stout.

Btw, you did show me you are a beer n00b by saying all Dutch beers taste the same. Yes all lager/pilsners do, but there are loads of special beers here as well. Som great stouts, some great ipa's etc etc.
