That is so naive of him.
Yes it is. If I remember correctly he messed up on a few other things as well.

Well other than calling Children of Bodom a thrash metal band I believe he labeled Cradle of Filth under the Norwegian black metal scene.

I don't really get entirely what im voting for here, but any way, of these I would say Dio is probably a favorite.

I'd have to vote other and Scott "Wino" Weinrich - it is almost like every band he is in becomes a legend.

That guy is indeed a true legend and hero. He is up there next to Ozzy for me.
When I talked to him about a month ago at the Saint Vitus gig I felt like a little schoolboy and got him to sign the blank slipsleeve of Die Healing. When I asked him to sign it he siad modestly that he had nothing to do with the album. I said I knew but wanted him to sign the blank slipsleeve anyway.
And to top it all of and make me go all wobbly on my legs I got a picture taken with him hahahaha I think I should upload it although the quality isn't too great. The funny thing is he always looks evil on pics but when he is doing regular stuff he usually wears glasses and smiles.

It is good that they are reviving old bands like Saint Vitus. I hope that the same happens to Spirit Caravan one day.
It would we a real dream come true if I could see him live with one of his bands one day.

Probably been said a million times, but it was surprising to not see Chuck there. This is a hard choice..I'm not sure I can make it. Metal just wouldn't be the same without any of those guys, so they're all heroes in my eyes

How the hell "Tony Iomi" isn't in the list?, he's the guy who "invented" metal !

My definition of "Hero" is obviously different from the topic creators because none of these people are worth looking up to or being a role model to my two kids.
Maybe "influence" should have been the choice word instead of "hero"....

Oh my, Tony Iommi of course m/
but all those dudes up there are legendary, as are/were many others, CHuck Schuldiner, Bruce Dickinson and Phil Anselmo for example!
and somehow there has to be Lemmy in there too

Bruce Dickinson for me... I gotta say I personally don't feel James Hetfield belongs up there at all. If you subbed Cliff Burton in there that'd be relevant to me.

I mean, the only thing Ozzy can do is sing. (harmonica is not an instrument used in metal, although his harmonica performance in The Wizard was good, and it may be used in avant-garde, but whatever) Not like that's TOO bad, but metal is mostly about the music, and Iommi wrote and played all those songs Sabbath is known for.

Iommi, of course. He invented metal and his image is iconic. Long hair, wicked facial hair, all black clothes and a Gibson SG in hand. Not to mention, he's been surrounded by greats such as Geezer Butler, Ronnie James Dio, Ozzy Osbourne, Bill Ward, Ian Gillan, Glenn Hughes, even Jethro Tull!

It's a farce that Lemmy and Bruce Dickinson are not on the list while Dimebag Darrell, Hetfield and Mustaine are
It's hard to say really who is the "greatest" though. But Dio, Dickinson, Halford, Lemmy, Iommi, Ian Gillan are all up there as far as big name who have had the greatest impact on the genre.
