I'm surprised i didn't reply to this thread, mine was 18.05.2007, Blind Guardian. pretty awesome, i was screaming like a goddamn maniac, especially during "Valhalla", though i did get moderately bored during "And Then There Was Silence".

though before that, i believe in september 2006 or something i did see 2 somewhat nationally-famous bands called Implant Pentru Refuz(hardcore) and Altar(hardcore melodic thrash) and it was pretty kickass too(Altar rocks pretty hard live). these guys used to play a Slayer-Pantera-Metallica medley live but sadly they didn't do so that night.

The first gig I attended was one of Therion last year (5-oct-2007), five or six years listening to metal and I never attended a gig until that day, wow, they were awsome, one of my all-time favorite bands, first row, their best line-up, great songs. I will remember that day forever. I almost had an orgasm when they playd Ginnungagap and Invocation of Naamah.

My first "big"concert was Paradise Lost in Rock Al Parque Fest, in Bogotá.
What can I say. I really liked it, spite I was a bit far. It's a grest experience to see one of your favorite bands live even if you're not very close.

Since then, i have had the greatful opportunity of seeing the greats like Maiden and Megadeth a bounch of times. Next on my list for must sees, slayer!

It was 1985; Dire Straits on the Brothers in Arms tour. There was no opening act, so I got treated to three hours of Mark Knopfler's incredible guitar work in a 2,500 seat venue. There were playing stadiums on that tour, so it was probably one of the smallest shows they had. I was fourteen and got spoiled for my first concert.

The first metal concert I went to was Judas Priest on the Painkiller tour with Testament and Megadeth in 1990. Phenomenal show, though unfortunately Alex Skolnick wasn't with Testament at the time. At least I got to seem him play with Testament last year.

The first metal show I ever went to was Chimaira. The show was pretty good, but naturally there were tons of scene kids. One of the hardcore dancers decided it would be a fabulous idea to intentionally punch me in the mouth. I was not expecting it, and he dissapeared into the crowd before I could retaliate. My head was ringing for the rest of the show.

After the show I was driving home, and I got pulled over by a cop for speeding. I was nervous because I had never been pulled over before, so I accidentally parked halfway on the curb. I also could not speak clearly from the blow to the mouth I recieved earlier. This led the officer to beleive I was on some sort of controlled substane, even though I had not drank/ smoked/ injected/ swollowed anything that night. He decided it was necessary to call in backup, so one officer was doing all kinds of drug tests on me, while the other was raiding my car. They eventually reached the conclusion that I was indeed on something, even though they could not prove it. Ultimately they let me go with a warning, after calling my parents to the scene and talking with them at 1 am. I just wanted to crawl into bed and die.

Oh yeah, this was all on the first night of school too.

Not a very good first concert experience.

Death, with Carcass supporting on the "Human" tour. Pestilence were supposed to be supporting, but had to cancel, meaning Carcass were playing instead. Unfortunately, I wasn't a big fan of either band at the time, so didn't appreciate it as much as I now would.

I also remember the volume when I entered and heard Carcass playing. It blew my ears off!

The first concert I ever attended wasn't a metal one though, it was Wet, Wet, Wet!

Death,

damn you saw Death? I'm jealous!

I saw Pantera once back in 2001...same problem you had except I didn't know any of their music then; I wish I could have appreciated it as much as I do now. I do remember liking their performance alot though.

Yup, and met Chuck Schuldiner!

Not being a big fan of Death at the time though, I didnt really appreciate it, and I'm a bit unhappy about that.

I've seen Pantera live 3 times, everytime I was on the right side of the stage were Dime was. Most of the time, I couldnt take my eyes off him! His playing just mesmerised me.

My first time was Testament in Hof ter Lo in Antwerp in shithole belgium. It was pretty badass: some creepy intro mixed with feedback started playing and there was all green smoke and suddenly they stood there! The green smoke went away and they thrashed into "Over The Wall". It was fookin awesome
The support band were some dutchies called Polluted Inheritance or sumptin like that xD.

Skinless was the band I was going for but i was exposed to the other two bands which both of which were awesome, actually got to meet Skinless members too. Good day...pretty good day...

I've lived on a tiny right smacked in the middle of the Pacific Ocean called Guam all my life. The music scene here fucking blows - no damn concerts ever! But I have only been to one concert, but I was forced to go. I think it was called The Warped Tour '07 in Columbus, GA. It blew balls. Korn, Trivium, Atryeu or however you spell that pathetic excuse for a band. It was the most pathetic experience of a "metal" show I have ever had to be.

First metal concert? None yet, but I'm really excited about going to a lot soon. Mississippi isn't exactly at the top of most band's list of places to visit, and I just recently got my driver's license so I couldn't drive to any until now. Definitely gonna go to the big Slayer/Megadeth/Testament show in the summer, even if they don't come anywhere near MS.

First concert? Amalgamation. Last year. They're a local jazz fusion band that I went to see with a friend. It was a really great show and I loved it.

I went to see Van Halen with four or five of my buddies (and my mom) back in '04. We sat in a nose bleed section, so I'm hesitant to let it qualify as a proper concert. An '07 Clutch show was the first show I attended and actually left satisfied (or, perhaps, just relieved to get fresh air) at a tiny bar at the edge of Portland. Pagan fest 1 was the first metal show I went to. Sadly I couldn't make it all of the way through Ensiferum, but got to see all of Turisas, TYR, Suidakra, and Eluveitie.

My first concert I attended was in a bar to see the band Drowning Pool. It was all ages and I was around 18 or 17, I forget. I befriended some 30 year old guys who commented that it was nice to see a young guy listening to rock music, instead of hip-hop and crap like that and they bought me a few beers. I was in the front-row and right in front of the lead singer, and he came up right towards me during the song "Bodies" and we sang one of the choruses together. Good times.

I don't know if I've posted in this thread yet or not, but here it goes:

My first metal concert was Celtic Frost on their first reunion US tour in Lawrence, KS. They blew my 16 year old mind with how heavy their music was. Totally life-changing.

Never heard of Guam before so it was really interesting reading about it on Wikipedia!

Concerts.... the first couple of concerts I've been was Steve Wonder & Bod Dylan around 1987 -1988. I am not sure which one was first I need to find the tickets (yes I keep all the tickets of concerts I've been!). The first Metal concert was Alice Cooper (I think either 1989 or 1990) which was pretty amazing for me at the time!

The first metal concert I ever went to was a Sonata Arctica show, one of my favorite bands to this day. It was back when Jani was still on board. I'm finally seeing them again this year, so it'll be interesting to see what the show is like now.
