Ever go to a concert, and some band you really hate opens them? What were they thinking?!

- Iron Maiden and Bullet For My Valentine. (2006)

Seriously, Trendy metalcore kids don't mix the salty old NWOBHM crowd, that's an assbeating waiting to happen.

- Metallica, Mudvayne, Deftones, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit (yes, Limp Bizkit) (2003)

Proof positive metallica sold out.

-Dragonforce at Ozzfest (2006)

They seriously don't fit in with Black Label Society, Strapping Young Lad, and System of a Down.

Any to contribute?

Megadeth and Metallica
Iron Maiden and any other band (When Maiden play, it all has to be about them, and only them)
Pantera and Metallica
Bullet For My Valentine with any metal band
My Chemical Romance with any metal band
Tokio Hotel with any metal band (their emo fans would probably get their asses kicked)

Rotting christ with Extol.
I wasn't there but the combination speaks for itself, a christian metal band with Rotting Christ.....
acording to a christian friend of mine the Rotting christ fans clearly showed their hatred to Extol.

Lamb of God and Killswitch Engage seem like a bit of a mismatch. They both have big fanbases, but I'm not sure how much they crossover, we'll see how it turns out. I predict some lame metalhead vs. scene kid fights.

Does this thread has any purpose other than bitching why did a band you hate open for the band you love? (or vice-versa)

I mean, seriously.

The only bands that I think shouldn't tour with each other are bands that are too drastically different. Like softer symphonic/power metal bands shouldn't tour with death/thrash bands, it's not gonna work.

Quoted for truth.

This is why I couldn't understand Firewind and Arch Enemy touring together. Granted, Firewind style is more like US power metal, but still!

Well, considering that was the year St.Anger came out, I say they picked the perfect bands to tour with.

I absolutely agree.

As much as many people will be loathe to admit it, a lot of people who like, say, metalcore or even Nu do tend to like the huge thrash bands. Same with deathcore and death metal. So, while pairings of that nature might not sit well with some people- for the purpose of the show, the majority of fans there probably will like or at least appreciate (to some degree) both.

I think having an ambient black metal band touring with either a tongue in cheek retro-type thrash band or brutal death would be... Interesting

I saw coheed and cambria open for slipknot, that was a little strange. and disturbed with avenged sevenfold- both huge commercial bands but their fans are generally pretty divided. so im not complaining since i like all these bands, it can just make for a more different show

Interesting, I have never seen this topic before...

...however in this moment I'm not realy trying to remember which bands shouldn't tour together (in the past), but the latest fresh and juicy news are definitely
Korn and Dimmu Borgir touring together, which is kind of unusual and unexpected....I'm wondering how will this tour go through...or maybe not.

Yeah i know, but there are two other bands there to distract them etc. But still, must have been really, really awkward for them.

Dude, that story is old news, they are all fine now, Mustaine, Ulrich, Hetfield, they all have said they are in very good terms now.

When I saw the name of this thread I imagined something like:

Deicide + Stryper

That is probably the ultimate and best example. xD Even worse than Stryper + Anthrax, who actually did play shows together.

Another example would be something like Fairyland + Devourment. I cant see that going down well at all. lol
