Yes, youtube is just for streaming videos. It's not intended for downloading however there are certain addons for Firefox or if you aren't using Firefox there are a few websites that you can type in the URL for the video and download it. Just type "Youtube Video Downloader" or something along those lines into Google and I'm sure it will come up with a lot of links. So, you can download the videos off youtube, but not directly off the youtube site.

Most of the Firefox add-ons work for Google Video, as well. Fancy downloading that Death concert from Dynamo a few years back (which, incidentally, is perfectlly legal due to the fact that it copyright ran out and it is now in the public domain)? You can have it in half-decent quality (obviously not perfect, though) on your computer. Using this tool, you can get such concerts as Maiden Donington (92), both Death concerts (L.A. and Dynamo), CoB (Tuska 2004 and Sweden (not sure of the city) 2005) and Dream Theater Live in Budokan. I found a link with all these a while back, but I can't remember it off the top of my head. I would highly recommend for anyone to try and use these legal loopholes to download these great shows, especially considering the chance of it actually hurting the artist rather than the cash-grabbing record companies is very slim.

Yes, I have managed to download from the websites. It didn't take me too long, however I didn't download very long videos. I'm not sure why they haven't worked for you though. Just a word of warning, when you do save the videos to your computer, make sure that you name it with .flv at the end. This way, when you try to convert it the computer will recognise it as a Flash video file and it should be quite simple to convert it to an appropriate format. Anyway, give [URL]http://www.youtubex.com/[/URL] and try to download the videos. I know that site works quite fine.

If you still have problems downloading or converting them PM me and I'll try help out.

instead of .flv rename them as .vlc if you have that program! it makes and full screen and it is a usefull programm!

then i found another prog that downloads it in .avi

To download videos from youtube download this softwere, its way better then downloading from some websites that give you a .fvl file, with this softwere you can save the video as .AVI, .MPEG, and even in PSP format. LOL it sounds a lot like advertising but I thought it would be useful for some of us =)
