I've already seen a bunch of 2015 releases being announced, and even streaming in full in some locations, so I figured I'd go ahead and create a place for those releases to be posted. To start we'll have the new Swamp Witch album The Slithering Bog. It's a sludge filled doom album that simply slays, and is streaming in its' entirety on the Swamp Witch bandcamp page. The official release date (for the physical versions) is February 20th, 2015.

I actually listened to a bit of that the other day and didn't hate it. Not sure what's going on any more.

When I showed Johan he said that it was beatdown deathcore that didn't even try too hard to sound menacing, which ends up making them sound better. Now I get why you like Ingested. I should see that album the same way I see this one.

Hmm no silly little side comment privileges for me then....

this could be ok, obviously can't say what it's like, but could be something to look forward to. I liked there first release, but not really into the shoegaze thing lately.

Haven't properly listened to that one yet but I found this today which is a remix or sorts of one of the tracks off it, which is rather nice.

Really really enjoying this one. I love the tones on this so much, makes for very soothing background music. Do you know anything similar to this?

Oh and dat artwork.

Appreciate it man! I'm familiar with the concept and techniques used in the making of this album, but it's a niche I never explored. And yeah that artwork is probably some of my favorite in recent memory. Did some research and it turns out it's a painting by James McNeill Whistler. Scrolling through google and it looks like he's got some other nice pieces too.

Didn't even see that you had made that mistake. Yep, they're one of the reasons (for me at least) that Finland is becoming a European center for amazing extreme metal. So many cool/experimental bands coming out of there, that it's getting hard to keep track of

Heard a bit of this a while back but Bandcamp is throwing it in my face again so I decided to give it another whirl (how can you say no to that artwork). Gotta say it's pretty nice. Nothing massively special but it nails that modern raw sound and isn't afraid to let itself go with some nice riffy melodies.

[edit]

Just realised a lot of the sound, melodies and progressions remind me a little of Le Secret, only played at a faster pace.

Top notch atmos-Cascadian black metal EP from Addaura. Anyone who liked their (surprisingly low-rated on here) full length will no doubt dig this.

This sounds vaguely interesting. Seems to be a mix of groovy sludge and black metal / blackened death. And it has air raid sirens and Zeppelins going on so instant cool.

Upcoming album from a one-woman black metal band from Brazil. There's both a full song up with vocals and a song-by-song preview without vocals. While I'm not that into her vocal style I'm loving the music. Has a great, trudging Xasthur quality about it and a strong sense of melancholic melody which really reminds me of Blut aus Nord in their epic moments. Looking forward to the whole thing. Khaotic.
