I've started this thread as the old thread got deleted with the new site.

This is a thread about bands like: Manilla Road, Agent Steel, Jag Panzer, Cirith Ungol, Circle II Circle, Whilplash, Forbidden, Attacker, Deadly Blessing, Catch 22, Imagika, Hammers of Misfortune, Liege Lord, Apollo Ra, Pharoh, Q5, Crimson Glory, etc.

I've got the Beyond Fear album and I can say it's one hell of an album, if you into old school heavy metal, but with an up to date sound you've got to deffenetly get it.

What do you thing of Midnight's return to Crimson Glory? Any expectations?

Any news from the Agent Steel camp?

@Hellish Star: what do you think of Astronomica? I really started to like it. As another fact I received Brutal Hand, superb I think I'm in love & the new Machine Head which I found to be superb. I've been listening to these 3 albums for a month now with Biomechanicals albums (not us I know but I felt I had to post that also).

Astronomica? From Crimson Glory? Good album although I'm a fan of Midnight's work. Not as a person, he's a drunk ass hole... I did an interview with him and he was stoned and drunk, I hate it....

Brutal Hand is superb.

Machine Head? I never was a fan, will give it a try...

I ordered the new Immortal Avenger and I'm curious about it...

WIll you make it to the next keep it true festival in about a month?

I also like Midnight, I knew about his problems, too bad it affects his work...but that is life.

Ah yes superb, thank you that you recommended them, they are truly great.

I don't think you will like it except if you liked "Burned My Eyes" & "Through the Ashes of the Empire".

I got my ticket at home, will just have to figure a way to get there from Romania, the train option from Romania isn't that great so probably I'll book a flight to a town near & then use the train.

Anybody got any news about Fates Warning, Savatage (I know these guys are on hold right now)? And about the new Annihilator's new album "Metal"? I'm expecting another letdown as the last two, but who knows. I've heard it's got people like Jeff Loomis, Steve "Lips" Kudlow (Anvil), Michael Amot and other guys I know nothing about.

Anybody got any news ...

@ VenoM_BM: if you want news, I'm the man, lol.

About Fates Warning: No real news.

But I do have some news about drummer Mark Zonder's side project Slavior: the self-titled debut album is scheduled for release on April 3 via Inside Out Music. A promo video of the song 'Dove' can be found here. Cover art can be found here. And some samples here.

"Slavior" tracklisting:

01. Origin
02. Shatter
03. Swept Away
04. Altar
05. Another Planet
06. Deeper
07. Dove
08. Slavior
09. Give It Up
10. Red Road

And apparently, Redemption, featuring Fates Warning vocalist, Ray Alder, will be headlining in the Los Angeles area at Paladino's on Friday, March 23rd. More info about that band here.

About Savatage: Again, no real news. BUT as well as Jon Oliva's Pain, as Chris Caffery as Zak Stevens (CircleIICircle) are playing together on a festival here in Belgium. So maybe they'll tell something about Savatage.
I'm not really planning to go there. But if they announce something, I let you know since I know people who are going (so I have my sources).

About Annihilator: I posted some samples of "Metal" today in the MS News. Here's the link. Seems not that bad on a first listen... But not oustanding neither.

About KIT and Destructor: Read THIS, second article "Destructor To Release Storm Of Steel EP At Keep It True Festival".

@ Hellish Star: could you get me one of those "Storm Of Steel" EP's please. I pay you back the day after on ANOPFT

I suppose they will bring the ep to the concert in Eeklo, no? Not that I won't buy it for you...

I don't think so when looking at the cover art, here.

About Redemption: the upcoming album "The Origins Of Ruin" will be released on March 30th 2007 in Europe and April 3rd 2007 in USA.

EDIT: Apeldoorn is way too far for me.. Plus I have already other things planned. Damn, wish I knew this earlier.

The show also features performances by LAAZ ROCKIT, DIAMOND HEAD, SABBAT, LETHAL, PILEDRIVER, DEFENDER, BULLET, TWISTED TOWER DIRE and CAULDRON.

The release date for Destructor's forthcoming new Forever In Leather album has been slightly pushed back due to unanticipated studio delays. A new release date will be announced soon.

Nice to see this thread working again!

For the news:

Headbangers Open Air "the largest metal-garden-party of the world" celebrates its 10th anniversary on the 27 of June and the 14th of July in Brande-Hörnerkirchen/Elmshorn/Hamburg.

The HOA line up is completed. At last US-Legend Malice and Sweden's reformed Candlemass with new singer Robert Lowe are confirmed.
More info available at : www.headbangers-open-air.de

Other the confirmed bands (in alphabetical order) :

Avenger (UK), Ballroom Battle Winner Beyond Fallen (USA), Bullet (Swe), Candlemass (Swe), Halloween (USA), Hollow Ground (UK), Kaos (USA), Killingsworth (USA), Knight Errant (Tr), Malice (USA), Marshall Law (UK), Moonsorrow (Fin), Paragon (Ger), Rage (Ger), Raven Black Night (Aus), Silver Fist (Esp), Sinner (Ger), Sixth Alloy (Ger), The Black (I), Vengeance (NL), Warning SF (USA), Wolf (Swe), Wretch (USA).

MELIAH RAGE--New Album Due Late 2007; Tour Re-Cap:

"We would like to extend a hearty thank you and horns up for all the support we received on the road in the month of January. The tour was a success, and in spite of some brutal weather and technical mishaps along the way, we had a great time. The boys in Metal Church were very gracious hosts, and we had a blast cruising the country with them. Lest we forget all the hard work of the road crew, who busted their a*sses each and every day - Hollywood Joe, Dan the Man, Rich Frey, and the incomparable Jeff James, tour manager extraordinaire. In the meantime, Tony has been busy writing music for the next record, and as we enter pre-production on some of the tunes, we are looking for a late 2007 release. The music thus far is heavier and more riff-oriented than the last two releases, but has all the elements of classic Meliah Rage. With the Deep and Dreamless Sleep finally seeing a release in Europe, we are hoping to be heading to those shores in the next year, with another stateside trek in the works for this summer. In the meantime, Jim and Tony are waiting forward for the snow here in Boston to melt so they can break some speeding laws on their Harleys, Darren is spending time with his three beautiful daughters, and Jim prepares to marry his long-time sweetheart at the end of this month. Stay tuned for pictures as there will be some special guests performing at the reception. Lastly, keep an eye open for the re-mastered release of the 1996 classic "Death Valley Dream" this coming spring."

CAGE - Sign With MTM Music:

"MTM Music have announced the signing of San Diego based "modern day power metal" band CAGE. The label will release the band's new album, Hell Destroyer, on May 18th.

Hell Destroyer features the following tracklisting:
'Hell Destroyer'
I Am The King'
'Christ Hammer'
'Born In Blood'
'Rise Of The Beast'
'Bohemian Grove'
'From Death To Legend'
'Legion Of Demons'
'Fall Of The Angels'
'Fire And Metal'
'Beyond The Apocalypse'
'Metal Devil'
'King Diamond'

In addition, the CD title track, 'Hell Destroyer', can be downloaded by visiting the band's official website at www.cageheavymetal.com"

That's about all for now!

The reunited "Remnants of War"-era lineup of HELSTAR shared the stage with TESTAMENT last night (Tuesday, March 27) at the Scout Bar in Houston, Texas.

Commented HELSTAR bassist Jerry Abarca: "This show was GREAT!!! Sold out... You had to walk on top of people just to get anywhere. If you missed it, maybe next time. HELSTAR made an official announcement last night. HELSTAR will be recording a new album. This year!!! And will be shopping for a great label. We did play a new one for the crowd and it was a frenzy of madness. To be all honest it was it was a madhouse and of course I had to come to work today. I was well worth it. Thanks for everyone's time and we hope to see you in the near future..."

AMULANCE: 'The Rage Within And The Aftermath' CD To Contain Never-Before-Heard Recordings - Mar. 29, 2007

San Jose, California's Stormspell Records has announced the release of AMULANCE's "The Rage Within and the Aftermath" CD. The disc will contain the band's original 1987 "The Rage Within" six-song demo as well as never-before-heard demo recordings taken from the "The Aftermath Sessions", recorded in 1988-1989 shortly after the recording of the group's highly acclaimed "Feel The Pain" LP. All songs have been remixed and remastered from the original tapes. To make it even more appealing to the listeners, the label has upgraded the release to an enhanced multimedia CD including two exclusive live video performances recorded in 1988 and 1989.

Commented AMULANCE vocalist Rik Baez: "I knew of Stormspell as being a label that handled some excellent European bands. I had seen some of their releases and was blown away! I didn't think metal labels actually did work on packaging anymore. I'm very proud to be the first American band on the label."

True to the label's policy of matching great music with elaborate packaging, "The Rage Within and the Aftermath" is graced with custom artwork drawn by renowned artist Dimitar Nikolov (DRIFTER, CYPHER SEER, ILIUM, STEEL ASSASSIN). A 24-page booklet crammed with band history, photos, lyrics, liner notes from the band members for every one of the 12 songs, and a glossy hand-numbered luxury slipcase complete the overall packaging, making this release STORMSPELL's most elaborate and beautiful release to date by far. As a special bonus, first 150 CDs has been converted to special "die-hard" edition autographed by each band member and with a collectible AMULANCE embroidered patch included as free bonus.

To preorder the "die-hard" CD version, T-shirt, or check out audio samples and more information, go to this location.

New HELIX CD and more...

"The new CD (which will be released in July/August) will be called "The Power of Rock n' Roll". It will be a combination of "Get Up!" plus 4 brand new tracks: Fill Your Head With Rock, Nickels & Dimes, Livin' Life Large, and Eat My Dust. Spiro Papadatos has re-done the artwork and it looks stunning. For those of you who have bought the Get Up! CD: Hold on to your copy-it's soon to become a collector's item.

I'm expecting fans to ask me why put out "Get Up!" when "The Power of Rock n Roll" is essentially the same thing plus 4 new tracks... Well?back when we were recording the CD we were trying to coincide the Get Up! release with the release of the Trailer Park Boys' movie The Big Dirty, as Heavy Metal Love was featured prominently on the soundtrack. We had already written the other 4 tracks but ran out of time to record them, so we decided to come out with a 7 song CD, and shop it around to various people while we recorded the remaining tracks. The CD was released in October of 2006 to rave reviews, and this spring we started sending it out to different record companies in hopes of landing a deal. We were actually offered several, but the company we eventually chose is a great fit for the band. You will understand when we announce it formally.

HELIX TO SIGN FOR EUROPE
Over the past couple of weeks we've been negotiating with an English record company about signing the band. This is in the process of becoming a reality; we just need to sign the paper. As well as taking on the new CD, said company is also licensing 7 CDs in our back catalogue- Breaking Loose, White Lace & Black Leather, B-Sides, Half-alive, Back for Another Taste, Rockin' In My Outer Space, and Live! In Buffalo. Expect an official announcement in a couple of weeks."

2. Caught in the Act
3. Take No Prisoners

Well, Rico was so impressed by them that he still talked about it during Laaz Rockit's gig on Sunday in Belgium and also still on Monday in the car when he dropped me off at the station

Shame I couldn't make it to KIT, must try and go to the November version for there the almighty Toxik will be performing.

Btw, Laaz Rockit was kick ass in Belgium. Got hold of their Live Untold dvd there for just 10 euro. But unfortunately no City's Gonna Burn available yet.
Destructor were also greatly enjoyable. Man, is it good for my ego to see that those guys have bellies as big as mine. Hahaha
