By this I do not mean your favorite albums, what I wanna know is which albums are most important, dearest or means the most to you. It could be the album that got you into metal, the album that changed everything you thought you knew about music, the album someone you like gave to you and of course, it can also be your favorite album.

My list:

Metallica - Master of Puppets, Metallica, Load, ReLoad, S&M
MoP has been my favourite song ever since I first heard it when I was 12. That album changed my life and fully got me into Metal, it made me know that Metal is everything for me. The Black Album was a very early album for me, helped me got into the genre and was the second album I bought. The two follow-ups are maybe not the best albums ever but when my family went to Greece and drove around the country in a car my mom had a walkman and a tape with those two albums on, which she gave me. I listened to it and loved it and this was before I got into Metal. S&M was my first live album and I'm such a sucker for both Metallica live and orchestras.

Iron Maiden - Dance of Death, Brave New World, Rock in Rio, Somewhere in Time, Killers
DoD was the very first album I bought. BNW and RiR was the first Metal I liked, the first step to a Metalhead. SiT was one of my first albums and Killers... well, it's such a magical album which was there for me many times.

Children Of Bodom - First four studio albums
All their first four albums helped me become a Metalhead and appreciate more extreme metal. These albums are classics to me and this band means so much for me.

These three bands and their albums are listed first for many reasons. They remind me of a much easier and happier time in my life. But the main reason is because they were the only, and I mean ONLY Metal, I listened too for like 4 years! I thought it didn't exist any more good bands, seriously. But then this band came:

Norther - Dreams of Endless War
Since I heard that these guys would sound like CoB there was no doubt if I should get an album. So I bought DoEW and it changed everything. It made me realise that there exist more bands and so much better Metal out there!

I guess that Norther really helped me become the person I am today, or maybe the Metalhead I am today.
Now the list goes on without any special order.

Dream Theater Images and Words, Metropolis Pt 2: Scene from a Memory
These albums made me see that Metal has so much to offer. DT played music and made me feel in a way I didn't thought was possible.

Cradle Of Filth Damnation and a Day
Because this one made me get into Black Metal. (Don't cry all Black Metal fanboys, I know it's not a Black album... at all )

Nightwish Oceanborn, Wishmaster
Got me into female vocals.

I have listened to so many albums, but non of them has changed in me but one album, and that was "Beast of Attila Csihar" That album included bands that Attila Csihar has worked with them. With each song I found a new band, and those bands were amazing, like Aborym, Korog, Tormentor, Limbonic Art, Plasma Pool..
Again with finding Aborym, my taste of music had changed. I got into EBM.Industrial music.. First I got Alien Vampires which is formed by an Aborym ex-member. And after that I found other EBM.Industrial bands...
I like these changes which have done in my music-life, and the reason is Attila Csihar

First of all then, thanks to a special Mexican friend, Levi Constancio! The fact that he is Mexican has to do with nothing at all with anything, but he enjoyed it. Thanks to Brandon Anderson as well for burning my first rock-a few metal songs album.

Cradle of Filth-Lovecraft and Witchhearts- My first album that I can really remember. After Levi made me this CD from them with a few songs, I had to own something like this! It took off from there!

Opeth-Curious about progressive death metal, I naturally checked out Opeth after being recommended to it. My SECOND album then was "My Arms, Your Hearse". Shortly after that my friend bought me "Blackwater Park" and that has been another monumental landmark in my metal life.

Secrets of the Moon- Carved in Stigmata Wounds- Some people don't feel its special, but this album draws me closer with every listen. Its addicting and is STILL listed as my top album on my page.

Gorath-Misotheism- With releases like this, you KNOW there is hope for people with the will to carry on black metal. Maybe not in the same way, but something a bit different.

Katharsis- VV.VV.E.- This album also goes to show that a band can play the oldest sounding black metal, yet create something fresh. This album is a must for ANY black metal fan who can truly appreciate it.

Albums that mean the most to me are usually the ones I listened to when first getting into a particular genre, almost purely because I listened to them so much and so intently in order to try and understand the genre. Some examples would be System of a Down's 'Toxicity', Arch Enemy's 'Anthems of Rebellion', Killswitch Engage's 'Alive or Just Breathing, Enslaved's 'Isa', Darkthrone's 'Transylvanian Hunger' and Edge of Sanity's 'Crimson'. Think my age had something to do with it, I was fairly young and just started socialising in an alternative scene so it was a good time for me all round and those albums pretty much store the memories and feelings for me. The same can be said for when I discovered industrial and electro (mainly because my entire friend base did) so stuff like VNV's 'Empire' and A23's ' Failure' affect me in the same way.

Metallica's Kill Them All introduced me to extreme metal... And then came Coma Of Souls of Kreator to show me they way to hell.. With Icon of Paradise Lost i first listened to Gothic and Damage Done of dark Tranquillity made me love death metal. Oufcaurse i should mention I Want Out (helloween) and Painkiller(judas priest) which are my first metal songs...

Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss. Pretty much my first metal album.

In Flames - Whoracle. The album that got me into death growls and helped me explore other genres

Immortal - Sons Of Northern Darkness. This album really got me into Black Metal and is somewhat of an archetype for Black Metal of this generation for me.

Opeth - Still Life. My first Opeth album. I had only heard of them and decided to buy an album. I chose based on which album cover was my favorite and I made a very good choice.

Ensiferum - Ensiferum. This album got me into folk metal and I'm very happy about that. I may have moved on from Ensiferum but they still hold a place in my metal heart.

Blind Guardian - A Twist in the Myth
This is the album that introduced me to power metal and Blind Guardian (my favorite band to this day).

Turisas - Battle Metal
The first album I ever got that had growling vocals. I just loved the music, and Nygard has such a cool voice and accent. This was my gateway album into folk metal.

Ayreon - The Final Experiment
I found a copy of the special edition of this album at a used CD store, and I bought it on a whim. The mixture of electronica, folk music, and metal was like nothing I had ever heard. I also love how it has a strong sense of narrative, but almost all the songs are strong in their own right (I still sing Eyes of Time and Sail Away to Avalon to myself sometimes) This album is one of the reasons I got into progressive metal, the other being:

Symphony X - Paradise Lost
I was looking for some new music and I looked them up on youtube and was blown away by Russel Allen's vocals and Michael Romeo's guitar work on Set the World on Fire. I immediately bought the album afterwards and it remains one of my favorites.

Dio - Holy Diver
My first old school heavy metal album. Dio's voice is just so powerful and emotive and I love the song Holy Diver (the video of which has a cheesier factor higher than most power metal videos, not that I care too much).

Metallica - Master of Puppets

Not my favorite album but a very dear album to me because it is the first metal album I ever listened to. Metallica is the first metal Band I listened to and I judge this Album as their best. With my first metal song "Master of Puppets" an epic song that changed my music style as well as my attitude .

In Flames - The Jester Race

My Favorite Album because it introduced me to my favorite genre Melodic death/Gothenburg Metal and to the metal growls, well it has the best melodies and some very good vocals. One of my favorite instrumental song "The jester's Dance" is also in the album as well as my favorite song "Moonshield".

Amon Amarth - With Oden on our side

Simply Epic, Epic lyrics, Epic vocals, Epic melodies ...... one of the best releases in metal in my opinion that introduced me to Viking metal even if it isnt THE viking metal by excellence the lyrics are .

Immolation- Close to a World Below

Best Death metal release for me with my favorite death metal song "lost passion" with deep well written lyrics. The drums and riffs are perfectly performed as well as the best growls I have ever heard in metal so far .

Burzum-Hvis Lyset Tar Oss

The album that got me into black metal and that gives me chills every time I listen to it. A black metal masterpiece.

Judas
The Amputator
Hmmm, which albums mean the most to me... There's a difference between the albums you like best at any given time and those that mean the most to you. Hence, with a few exceptions, the albums listed below aren't those that I necessarily like the most, but they are ones that are linked with very important memories for me.

Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle-Earth
This was the cherry popper, the album that started me off with metal, so it definitely has to be one of my all-time favourites. And to think that I only really listened to it in the first place because of the Tolkien connection!

Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse
This album made me realise that Children Of Bodom weren't the only 'good' band that used growly vocals. And holy shit I feel like such a dork for admitting that. Even the fact that I was 15 at the time doesn't really make for a decent excuse.

Celtic Frost - Morbid Tales
I bought this when I was in France on a school exchange in my final year of high school, and every time I listen to this album it just reminds me of all the awesome stuff that happened there. Oh and it happens to be a fucking awesome album too, that made me realise that thrashy stuff wasn't as headache-inducing as I thought it was.

Rhapsody - Dawn of Victory
Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction
Manowar - Kings of Metal
Three very different albums, but the reason they're here is because they were all played at various awesome occasions in my final year of school. The Rhapsody album was what we put on in my French teacher's car as we drove to this random immersion day; Gunners was pretty much the soundtrack to every party that year; Manowar was blasted every day as we boozed it up at schoolies week (week of drinking and partying after you officially finish high school).

Windir - Arntor
Moonsorrow - Suden Uni
Thyrfing - Urkraft
These three albums got me into the whole Folk/Viking thing, which I still love. Also when I was working in England I used to listen to these albums while walking through the woods to the nearest pub!

Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Judas Priest - Screaming for Vengeance
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
These are the albums that I use as 'driving music' to this day. Just before taking my driving test, I had gone to buy 'Powerslave', and so it was the first CD that I ever played in the car when driving alone. 'Screaming for Vengeance' was what I had playing during my first long drive, and 'Paranoid' is the only CD that never gets taken out of my car.

Moonspell - Wolfheart
is that album that still after all those years everytime i blast him it gives me a great feeling deep inside. even with his imperfections the album rocks and that's what make it special.

Amorphis - Tales From the Thousand Lakes
an album about my roots, beautiful lyrics, great guitar riffs, a revolutionary piece of metal with death growlings and epic melodies based on Kalevala, the national epic book of Finland.

Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of the Seventh Son
first album of Iron Maiden that i've heard... and it's enough

Metallica - The Black Album
first album of Metallica i've heard... and i've heard it for more than 4 years... i was complety addicted to it

Black Sabbath - The Eternal Idol
first album of black sabbath with tony martin... a guy wich voice i really admire... dark, cold, great riffs, 80's heavy metal on his best.

Metallica - Master of Puppets
The first metal album I got into and still remains my fave Metallica album today. I love the high 5's I get from complete strangers on the street when I'm wearing my MoP shirt.

Opeth - Ghost Reveries
So many tracks on this album hold special meaning for me. Hours of Wealth is at the top of the list. I remember sitting in a bar in Helsinki a few years ago, listening to this particular track and realised "holy shit, I am far from home, nobody knows me." Isolation Years also moves me emotionally, Mikael's voice is just so haunting yet comforting. Reverie-Harlequin Forest is another track that takes me on a journey and just lets me zone out for the full 11mins.

Ministry - Psalm 69
Great album to put on when its late in the night, you're 20 JD's in, sitting around with ur best mate, solving the worlds problems.

Guns n Roses - Appetite for Destruction
I never get sick of listening to this album. Speical link between me and my best friend and now that I'm in London its so good to listen to it and think of him.

Slayer - Reign in Blood and God Hates Us All
Brutal. Always gets me pumped up for a gig/festival. Love the energy these albums give me, love sitting in my room screaming my lungs out and pissing off the neighbours.

Mahcine Head - The Blackening
Halo has cracked my top 10 fave songs and this album has really brough MH into a much stronger position in the metal world. I didn't know they has this kind of brutality in them, but I'm very happy they brought it out.

Tool - Lateralus
No other band has ever brought me to tears at a gig the way Tool did a few years ago. Tool are one of those bands that you never hear anything new from for years but you never get sick of listening to the same stuff over and over again.

A few others worth mentioning...
Pearl Jam - Vs
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
Jeff Buckley - Grace
RHCP - Blood Sugar Sex Magik
Faith No More - Angel Dust
Muscles - Babes, Guns & Lemonade (am ready to get abused for this one....hahaha)
Blink 182 - Dude Ranch

I could go on and on but wont bore u any further!

i got into metal with these, i could not stop listening this stuff cuz before metal i never listened anything. so finally i got into music and i really liked and enjoyed this type of music. but, needed MORE! -

Show no Mercy - Reign in Blood
-----------------
i had only one song by Slayer. it was Angel of Death! This stuff made such an impact on me, i was so shocked.. i never saw faster and louder shit! it changed me so much.. it was like a drug! MUST HAVE MORE !! so i got Show no Mercy full album. and then Reign in Blood...it was so awesome, later i managed to collect the whole discographgy .. and yea, slayer became my favourite band..

Altars of Madness
--------------------
This record got me into DEATH metal! its my favourite death metal album, and it will stay so ! soon i got Blessed Are the Sick witch was also cool like Altars..

Endless Pain - Pleassure to Kill
..........................................
I heard about Kreator and i got their first album Endless Pain.. i didnt liked it much when i heard it the first time, but that was probably cuz of the poor recording.. cuz all the bands ive listened before had nice sounds and good studios. i think you all know what im talking about .. so i said " hey this was their first record, its recorded really poor.. let see what else they have " .. so i got pleasure to kill .. pleasure to kill was like reign in blood to me .. and Kreator too i see as a European Slayer .. and well.. later got all albums .. i was blown away as always...

King Diamond - from Fatal Portrait to Spider's Lullabye
- Heh, memories of sneaking to my neighbours to listen those albums, 'cos my mom didn't tolerate metal/rock music at home (except Alice Cooper) there was also some metallica and iron maiden albums, but those didn't impress me

Paradise Lost - One Second
Alice Cooper - Raise Your Fist and Yell
Hanoi Rocks - Two Steps From the Move
- When I was old enough to get my own cd player, I went to library and borrowed these classics and many more

Paradise Lost - Shades of God
- The first album I bought

Sonata Arctica - Silence
- This album really get me convinced of power metal and sonata arctica is one of my greatest inspirations

Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion live VHS
- After seeing this I wanted to be a rock/metalstar, like Axl Rose

In Flames - Clayman
- Introduced how beautiful growling metal could be

Cradle of Filth - Midian
- Taken growling metal even higher on heaven or lower in hell if you will

Dream Theater - Metropolis part II: Scenes From a Memory
- and back again to the light side of my musical taste, this album showed me how great progressive metal can be

and finally, the greatest album of all time for me and which means most to me

Mercenary - 11 Dreams
- this album was first I heard from them and this band became straight away one of my favorite bands, this albums combines all good things in music which I like, brutal but not too brutal, gentle but not too gentle, lyrics that have hell lot of emotion in them and of course ultimate skill of outputting them. I was kinda depressed and in somekind of an "artistic despair" and trying to solve why am I here.. yeah you know this shit, but althought this album changed my live.
